It can be done, but what everyone else has said is true - too risky!!! especially if roomie is an ass.

If you can hide your grow in your own space, that's one thing. but down in common space in the basement is asking for trouble.

As for design, I've pretty much done what you describe, but built into the cab itself rather than a cover - check out my grow and see.

As far as the setup.. sounds like a pain in the ass. I am using a cheap dresser with the backs and bottoms removed. It gives me 3 sq ft to do a fairly stealthy (FULLY STEALTH when unplugged... when rents come over) grow in. Just gut and tailor to your preference. I have about 6000 Lumens per sq ft (17,500 total) in my dresser and keep temps around 75. Also managed to setup a smaller Tote style Hydro bubbler in there also that leaves me about 27" of usable grow height. Good Luck.

Get new roomates, even if he wont call the cops, you obsiosly cant trust him to keep his mouth shut. then someone will hear things travel fast and the next thing ya know the swat will be at your door.

metali... everyone here seems to agree it's not the greatest idea unless you can tell your roomie upfront and trust them. I had to pamper the Mrs. and do some sweet talking to get her to agree to my setup since she doesn't really like the smokey- and if she wasn't gonna be cool with it then it's not worth doing. Your situation isn't all that different, but it looks like your waiting for someone to just say "yeah man, f$ck the roomie and grow dem kinds." Probably not gonna happen. Your setup will work if you like carpentry- but if you can tell the roomie, you can make it just the way you want and not freak out when you hear footsteps upstairs. After all, there are only so many excuses for why your in the basement every couple of days with cups of water.

uhhhh i was going to put some water in my coat pocket for later.....
keeping a cup of water in your shoes @ night keeps them from stinking.....
ah fuck it.
find a homie that can keep his mouth shut and drop beans@ his place. form a partnership.
hell my partner now lives with me. lol
