What is Marijuana? The technical name for marijuana is Cannabis, and Cannabis has two families, Indica and Sativa. Marijuana is a complex bud producing plant which is widely known for its recreational use as a recreational drug. Marijuana contains psychoactive compounds known as cannabinoids which react with receptors in a persons brain to cause a calming, mildly euphoric sensation or "high", within the body. The main active ingredient in marijuana is Tetrahydrocannabinol, or "THC" for short. Marijuana is ingested either from smoking cigarettes or "joints" consisting of the marijuana flower or bud. It is also eaten or made into a type of tea for use.
Marijuana is considered a schedule 1 controlled substance in the united states, which means that it is marked as having a high potential for abuse with no evidence of possible medical use as accepted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) under the Controlled Substances Act. Yet, recent studies have in fact shown that medical marijuana does in fact have a wide variety of medical uses. Marijuana has been used a medicine dating back to 500 A.D. by the Chinese as a pain reliever, and even as today's oppressionistic government hides its values behind propaganda many people are beginning to realize its true characteristics as a powerful and immensely useful healer. Marijuana has been shown to reduce pain by up to thirty percent in small doses and with larger doses it carries an exponentially larger pain relief. Marijuana or more specifically THC has been shown to have properties which fight off cancer, HIV, Glaucoma, and many other diseases and ailments. With these barriers broken through. The last leg of the uninformed peoples of America is that the smoke from burnt marijuana is harmful and that nothing that must be smoked can possibly be safe. While I do agree with this, there are other ways to ingest marijuana which are completely safe, such as; Eating marijuana based foods, or a newer method known as vaporization which is similar to smoking only the marijuana is not burned but basically heated to allow the THC to "vaporize" rather than burning which produces carcinogens "cancer causing agents" and other harmful chemicals such as carbon monoxide.
