Epsom salt?

Why do you need Epsom Salts? Do your base nutrients suck? Seems like only people running the cheapo ag salts need it..
"Epsom salts is the new More CalMag" - interesting observation.

I switched from bottled nutes to Jack's 3-2-1 at the tail end of my previous grow. One of the nutes in the Botanicare Kind line was banned being sold here in California. After getting around that issue, I decided no mas and made the switch.

I went with 3-2-0 because, based on what are considered acceptable nutrient ranges for cannabis by numerous researchers, Jack's doesn't need the extra S and Mg that are in Epsom salts. That's a defensible position but it seemed to be heresy to a bunch of growers in the thread (a different thread) and I incurred the wrath of quite a few of them. It got juvenile and insulting really quickly.

This is just one experience from one grower so I'm under no illusions that there's a trend but my experience was enough for me to think that maybe you're on to something.

Per your posting, the big eye opener for me was to run the elemental PPM numbers for commercial nutes. To my way of thinking, if the nutes that you're using don't have enough of any chemical, add it. If it's not needed, don't buy it in the first place. And, yes, I have the gallon bottle of CalMag that I bought when I first started growing. I keep it as a reminder but I'm happy to give it away to a good home! :)

I'm really not giving her anything. I was given a plant put it in the ground and now it's about 5' talk. I'll take all the suggestions. I have fruit trees too that I figured the Epson salt could work on

Now that I'm using salt base fertilizer from Jacks, in particular their "1 part" 12-4-16 it requires Sulfur so I use Epsom Salts @ 1/4 tsp/gal after mixing my feed solution up. You can use epsom salts by itself in water to boost plants, especially tomatoes seem to really benefit from it. All depends on your soil, I grow in coco so I must use it or I will have stunted shitty looking plants running the Jacks RO formula.

Well mag is immobile so if you over do your nitrogen it will run deficient in mag from the nitro delivering all the mag so you can flush your media with sulphate vs nitrates
