Enough?

I currenlty have 17 pants which just switched into flowering today. They are under a 600 watt HPS light in a mylar coated tent. Will this be enough light for all the plants to grow optimally? I have found different conversions for watts to lumens and then diffrent estimates on how many lumens a plant needs to yield a good amount. So input is appreciated.

what is the size of your room??? how long did you veg your plants??? these are the most important factors in determining light size.. i would suggest around 50w/sqft, so a 600 should cover a 3x4 floorspace rather well...

Its 4x7x7 mylar grow tent. They vegged for seven weeks until they were 16-18 inches tall.

You vegged your plants until they were 18 inches tall. Your plants are going to be about 4-5 feet tall (depending on strain) when it comes time to harvest.

A 600 watt bulb will cover a 4 X 4 area, anything outside of the 4 X 4 area won't be getting 600 watts.

A 4 foot tall plant is also about 2 feet in diameter.
So your 600 watt bulb will cover about 4 plants.
Unless you strip all the secondary colas and just grow the main colas. You might be able squeeze them all under that 600 watt bulb.

You should of vegged for only 3-4 weeks or until they were 6-8 inches tall.

That's funny. I have exactly 17 females 5 weeks into flowering. I have a 600 HPS electronic ballast. It's on a mover. I am limited to a 2.5 x 5 foot area. I started from seed this run but usually i have about 30 in this area. Though when I have numbers like that they are all little lollipops. Anyway here's a pic of them. i have to take them all out to water/feed.
I vegged for about 5 weeks.
