Energy Saving Light Bulbs

I have started a nursery. I have been told by a friend two, 20 wat energy saving lightbulbs (20=100watts). I am wondering if this wold be enough light? If it is should I be directing the light down to the plants? at the moment they are sort of hanging in the middle of all the plants and I have to turn them a few times a day.

Would putting tin foil around the perimiter of the plants help in reflecting more light back? Should I use more bulbs?

put your lights 2-3 inches directly above the plants,

tin foil is horrible for the plants, look for mylar or visqueen plastic

well I have a few plants so should I get 1 bulbs for each?
And if its above is there not alot of light escaping from the sides?

Wh is tin foil bad?

It just doesn't reflect that much light, what do you mean there is no light escaping from the sides? Maybe pics would help

make a hood for them this is what i used to veg three girls
i made it out of a plastic storage bin and some hardware. didnt cost me shit

and i can easily mod it for vegging(6 cfls)

I will be able to get pics tomorow, but what i mean is that there is no Hood its just litrally 2 bulbs hanging as if it was from a normal house light theres nothing around the sides of the bulbs to direct light downwards so would it not let alot of light escape out the sides?

hoods are $6 USD get a few. Also foil isnt that bad use the dull side...the only bad part about foil is 1 it loses a little light 2 on the shinny side it actually builds heat spots which can burn ur plant. Also 200W daylight CFL's are better for vegging.

just make your own hood lokk at some designs and diy! i used foil tape for the inside of mine it works good i might make one and paint the inside white to see which one reflects more? i know itll prob. be the one with white but the one i have know works great i just re configure the out lets differently and and some spliters to run 6 lights inside it
