Would this work to eliminate odors instead of a carbon filter?

no you need a charcol filter with a fan you can also hook up an ozone generator to the exhuast.

The unit I use is a Pure Air Ozone Micro-air 1100
Time adjustable and covers 5000 sq feet.
Got it off e-bay
Cost $100 New

Don't buy Ozone Jr ...Real peace of crap. Failed in 2 months

Micro-air 1100 has so far been great and still going strong after 5 grows.

ozone generators work good to get rid of odors. Just don't put them in the grow room. This will cause ozone damage to the plants (yellow, spotty leaves). Put the ozone generator outside the room and only turn it on when you notice odor. The ozone will remain in the air "seeking and destroying" odor for some time after the generator is shut down. Also, don't breathe ozone for too long. Too much is not good for people either. Thats why I say only turn it on as needed.
