Electricty cost?!!!

I have been trying to run all the numbers I can when it is coming to setting up my new room. All of the numbers have been fine until now. I looked up how to determine the cost of the electricity for running the lights. I was horrified.

How can anyone afford to run any system, non cfl? I dont know where you all live but here its 15.89 per kwh. and by my calculations for a simple 400w hps light it would cost me: $6.35 an hr, $101.70 for one day of 16hr light, and 3050.88 for a month. WTF. Thats just one light, not to mention the cost of running the pumps, fans and veg lights.

Am I missing something or what?
i have
(light wattage output / 1000)x electricity cost per kilowatt hour = Operating cost per hour
operating cost per hour x hours used per month = Operating cost per month

If this is right, how in the hell do you all avoid not getting arrested for using soooooo much more in electricity. I just dont see how anyone could afford that.

your computer alone (if you are using a desktop) is probably using anwhere from a 250w to 650w. So I doubt your calculations are accurate. Look them over again as I'm sure you are miscalculating something.

your math is wrong:

(400/1000) x .1589 x 24 = $1.53/day

AHHHHH I am retarded. I cant believe I overlooked that. I deal with hundred of thousands of dollars and i missed that, haha. Yeah i was putting it in like dollars rather than cents.

MAN, am I relieved. I knew something had to be wrong. There would be no way that would be possible, if you had a 1000W system that would be insane.

Maybe I should turn my entire spare bedroom into a grow room, to offset the costs of that dbag moving out on me early. Too risky though.
