I miss placed the power cord for one of my 600w hps I have plenty of spare desktop pc cables with the same fittings as my ballast could it be that simple or not worth the risk?

If the gauge is the same or heavier, then it's safe to use. When it comes to electric, always err on the side of a heavier cord and you'll be safe. The lower the number, the bigger the cord. A pc cable may fit but may not be big enough to safely carry that much amperage.

yep, that will work. you could run up to 80% of the 1250watt rating with no problme
Alright good to hear I read on another site that 8 it's hot on either end of the cord don't use it it feels ever so slightly warm like so slight I might just be paronid still safe you think?

warm is ok, hot is not. by the ratings on the cord itself, you are good to go. you're only talking like a 6 foot or so length right?

It's about 3 and a half - 4 feet but thanks that will really help me sleep at night knowing this

yeah, if you were running a 50ft cord or soemthing crazy, you might want a heavy duty cord. but for that short, no worries
