so im really wondering how much my electricity bill would go up if i have a 400watt HPS light on 12/12. im wondering per month how much it would go up. Im paying $0.074 per kWh maximum, i have no idea how to calculate this equation. if anyone can calculate how much it would cost me it would be much appreciated also +rep.

it's easy. a kwh would be equal to a 1000 watt light running for an hour so a 400 watt would be 40 % of that roughly 3 cents/hour or $.36/day.
$3.60 for 10 days, etc.

Your most recent electric bill will tell you how much you pay per kwh. Simple math will tell you how much it will cost.

you can offset the cost of your grows electricity by changing any halogen bulbs your using in your house for small cfls if you havent done so yet. A 12 pack is only like $10 around here for the 13w ones. I know in a way this is a bit off topic but i figured i'd throw it out there.
