electric bill last month was 179$ and that was after i bought my hps and it only ran for about a week or two of this bill. just checked my energy ussage, i have 10 days left on my bill cycle and im at 167$ WHAT THE FUCK? recirc fans? ac? i decided to take some cfls down for this reason.
everything i have running
A/C [im in arizona so its hot as fuck] outdoors temps are 90-95 day and 75-85 at night for this season. i run it at 78 durring the day and run it at 70 at night. [i drop to 70 degrees once my hps come on or my room gets above 85 degrees.] so this is on a 70degree 12hrs 78degree 12 hrs

400w HPS 12hours on 12 hours off

150 combined wats of cfl for my veg running at 24 hours.

1 fan for each room eaqualing two running both at 24 hours.

1 small humidifier.

i personally feel its the ac. i constantly unscrew bulbs in my house to cut down on inefficient energy ussage to save for the heavy lighting.

i doubt it's your light... bet your a/c runs 24/7 and draws AT LEAST 2x the electricity your hps uses. sorry buddy

My electric bill for my 1300 sq ft house was $575 in July, and $484 in August.

In August, $358 of that is from my air conditioner. My 600 watt HPS in 12/12 and my 400 watt T5 veg light adds about $70 to that bill.
This is Phoenix in one of the hottest summers on record, and I'm seeing that air conditioning bill as a bargain. Ventilating my grow room does add a bit to the A/C bill, but not as much as I thought it would. (This electric bill is only a little higher than it was when I wasn't growing.)

Anyway, this is the other reason I want to move to Oregon or Colorado.

All those lights and fans alone will probably add 50 bucks, your AC alone will probably add 80 or so, then say another 50 or so for the rest of your house (more if your house is big). This doesn't seem too far off man :/

EDIT: You live in AZ, invest in some solar panels! ^^

$179?!?! I haven't had a bill that low in decades... In any case I'd bet it is your A/C unit and not your lights, mostly.

You have very cheap electricity in AZ, almost as cheap as we have it in CO.
I grow weed that costs me around $10-$15 an ounce. That includes everything, nutes, coco, bulbs...

Find out how much your electricity costs and you can figure out how much your light costs you.

Our electricity is around $0.08 a kwh right now (anyone jealous? it gets about half that much in the winter)

My 600 watt light cost me about $17 a month to run in the Summer (Memorial Day - September 31) and about half that in the winter.

That is cheap.

You are spending about $15 a month on your light if you run it 12/12 $30 a month of you are running it 24/0.

If you are running a 400 watt hps you should be able to pull around 10+ ounces every 3 months.
If you are dropping $15 a month on your hps, that is about $45 of electricity for 10+ ounces.

$45 electricity
$100 for various (a guess)

$145 for 10 ounces seems like a great deal to me. It is tough to get a decent ounce for $160 here much less $15.

So yeah, shut up and enjoy your cheap electricity.

I have 2 400w but our power bill is higher than yours without them...lol. they actually added very little to the bill, just because it was already outrageous...around $300-$400 in the summer, and $400-500 in the winter...but now we have gotten it down to $150-220 in the summer and 250-350 in winter...we got a woodstove, and then redid our AC ventilation. So we have saved money even though we have the lights...now I only have one running as well...and I might cut that one too...I have to stop growing, but kind of don't want to stop gardening...I just need to start growing plants of a more legal nature...but everytime I see the veg tent with cucumbers and coleus and very little cannabis I get too sad to deal with any of the bell peppers and what not that I now am growing...so I think I will just cut both lights and not grow anything until I feel a little safer growing Mj again.

the lights are the only thing that makes me feel alright about our electricity bill, but it was too high before we got them...so they actually offset some of the electricity cost we were already spending...

you have a sun electric warehouse in AZ get online and order some solar panels. For under $1 per watt you can't go wrong.

Florida summer elec bill= $135 month $.10 kwh

Georgia summer elec bill= $85 month $.15 kwh

house in GA is 2x the sq/ft of FL home. Difference is 1800 watts of solar on roof in Ga

when i move im building a grow room outside. insulated. heated cooled etc etc etc im settling into a new place.
so then will have panels and housing for the batteries
