Well, IMO, you don't really have to EC, in your case. Your best bet, would to familiarize yourself with 'reading' your plants, knowing when it's time to increase and decrease doseages. I don't EC anything anymore, and my plants do great. Took some trial and error though, and now I know what they need, at what point they're in, for example...for the first couple weeks or flowering, they get 1/2 tsp per gallon fert/water, and so on, and so forth.....Knowing the EC, doesn't matter anymore, as long as I mix my ferts the same way, every time.(and monitor my plants, visually)
An EC/PPM meter is a good tool to have though, and I'm glad I have mine. I've just found that it isn't 'necessary' for the type of growing that I do. It satisfies curiosity, mostly.lol
