EC and pH Levels

Hi People,

I would like to know what the ideal ec level and pH would be for my approximately 5-6 week old, 2 1/2ft Presidential OG babies should be. Currently in veg under (4) air-cooled 600w MH lights w/flood and drain system which floods (50)8inch rockwools every four hours for two minutes. 8 inch exhaust with carbon filter and 6 inch intake, mylar on all walls in 8x8x8 room.

EC currently at 1.5 and pH at 6.2

Pics coming soon.

Thanks:peace:

depends what nutes.

If your return nute solution remains stable with no change in EC then you are feeding correct .

If your return nute solution increases EC then your nutes are too strong reduce EC

If your nutes are returning at a lower EC then increase strength.

pH 5.5-5.8

Thanks J, I have never thought about that. So if there is too much, the plant takes the water and returns nutes and vica versa? I will check on my next trip. What if I am losing a gallon of water every two days, how would that affect the ec?

The babies are growing nice, I wish they were a little fuller though and maybe stronger stem and branches. Would correct ec help with fullness or can I cut back the light cycle? I do not want to top.

I will get pics up soon.

Thanks

Just wanted to throw this out there in case you unaware of it. But dig around for some information on Lucas Ratio/Formula to help with dialing in things with your setup. Here's two online sources:

Ask Lucas

Check out the second link - I'm pretty sure the whole dropping/raising EC and dropping/raising pH issue is covered within the first few pages of the thread.

ph is too high and that will affect the nute intake

thanks cho. I read that when using rockwool, the pH should be even lower, like around 5.5?

Peeps have different ways and nutes and water and systems and evaporation rates, but what I do with my grow and my shit is ph down to 5.5 and then I know it is gonna drift up over the next few days so I keep an eye on it. If I add back water or water and nutes I then knock it down again. 6.1 is the highest I go, but it is best under 6. Some peeps with RO and certain nutes can just nail a number and it sticks. 5.5 is a good number.

Thanks J, What if I am losing a gallon of water every two days, how would that affect the ec?

Again it all depends on the EC after you loose your 2 gallon. You could be loosing the 2 gallon of water but your EC remains at 1.5 which means they are feeding.

If after your 2 gallon loss the EC is say 2.1 then i would try and look at your environment as it could be that high temps are causing an increased uptake of water causing your water rather than nutes.

Cool, looking forward to checking the increase or decrease in ec levels today Jo. I havent checked on my babies in almost 72 hours, hope everything is fine and the res isnt empty with pumps sucking air.... Last time I went over 72 hours without checking, res was empty and babies were hitting their head, but they looked good. Wish me luck!!!

how tall or big would you let babies get before flowering, these things are prob 3 ft with 15sets of branches after one month of veg. thinking about switching light schedule to 20/4 or something for another two weeks before flowering.???

I am personally running trials on various plant sizes at present.

I have 2x2ft that are into their 6th week of flowering.

I have 2x1.5ft that are into their 5th week of flowering

And i have 5x10inch clones lollypopped for single cola yield that are into week3 of flowering.

So personally i am liking under 2ft plants but hopefully the small lollpopped clones will convince me to run more smaller plants than fewer bigger ones.

Dang, I don't know if I stretched my plants early on or have too much light. (4) Air-cooled 600w mh over a split 6ftx7ft flood and drain table, 42 ladies. They are closing in on 2-3ft after almost 5 weeks veg., under 24 hour light. Light distance ranging between 8-12in. Thinking about cutting back light to 18/6 for a week and then move to flowering under (4) 1000w hps. I just want to make sure they will be strong enough for flowering.
