New to the hydroponic growing seen and i was just curious if youll could let me know what is better ebb & flo bucket system or a deep water culture system thanks for any feedback !!!!!

there is no "better" in absolute terms. each has pros and cons, but for better chances of success for a new to hydro grower, surely ebb&flo is the one. in DWC your problem is maintaining water temps at ideal levels,in ebb&flow the drawback is an additional control res and medium to clean or change after harvest, but it's more forgiving in case pump failure or not ideal water temps

agreed pump fails or even if you live where your prone to power outages its easy to dose your ladies by hand with ebb&flow i like both grow grow styles though

the other side of this is startup cost. dwc will be way cheaper than buying ebb n flow tables, also there are so many varying factors with both setups. how much room you have, will you be religiously watching them or looking every three days, etc.. i was dwc for a year, i just recently designed my own aeroponic setup from my dwc totes. the biggest thing i noticed was draining the used nutes out being an issue. i ended up placing the tote on a small stand and drilling a drain in the bottom. but then again my plants loved it when id take them out of the tote, clean it out and replace with a new batch of solution. i know some people that have killed plant with mistakes from both, so, ebb n flow-dont overwater or underwater. dwc, watch nutes carefully, too much and you kill the plants very quick.

oh and dwc doesnt have to have pumps. true dwc the roots sit in a bath of solution, power goes out, your fine as long as a the roots are not drowning. i.e. half roots in water, half still in air. plus if the power goes out your light schedule is fucked anyway.

well he is talking about using ebb&flow buckets so im assuming he has some space and for startup cost although it may be cheaper on initial startup for a single or few plants in dwc my tables run 100$ for a entire 2x4 tray setup pump, timer, table, res etc i put 11 in a tray and about to put 20 in the next throw so in my eyes for a 20 plant site system for 100 bucks is pretty good in my eyes.

i have heard this before but from what i have researched and even when i had started out in dwc 6 years ago have never found any site saying this is a good thing for dwc some dont use 02 pump but do use submersible pump to push the solution airborne to collect oxygen not sure though i know i wont be trying it anytime 02 pump and stone is cheap as hell.

huh. i would look into tables as im doing clones now, but aeroponic really intrest me currently. now yes with my system, if pump fails im fucked if im not at home to plug the drain and put water in it.

i used 02 pumps in my dwc, as more air will increase root growth. i was refering to if the power went out.

actually if the airpump breaks in dwc, it can handle maybe a day or so without it until roots start getting damage and slime, in flood/drain the medium could hold the plants for days before anything serious. i love both systems, i switch between them, in summer i do flood/drain(more heat tolerant) in winter i do dwc to save the work of cleaning medium

well thank youll for all the advice. im gonna b setting up a titan controls flo-n-gro 12 bucket system is there anything im gonna need to do b4 the setup ? ive heard that ill need to wash the hydroton b4 i use it is this true ? if so do i just use straight water to do it ? im new to the whole hydroponic scene so if theres things i need to do or be aware of id really appreciate the help so i dont kill my girls thanks again !!!!!!!!

a good rinse on the hydroton before use to get the dust off of them and your good just rinse till you see no more of the blown water coming out of the strainer.
