Easiest way to keep moms?

I am having issues deciding wether my moms should be in soil or hydro... I have a 8 bulb 48in t5 i'm going to use. I'm starting them in riot cubes and cant decide to do something like dwc or waterfarm for them or just use the air prunning pots i have left from my coco attempt. Anyone care to weigh in? I'm going to be doing SoG under 2 600's stinkbud rail style.

Id do em in soil. Kinda as a back up system.

So if your power dies or some pumps burn out or lines get clogged and your main system fucks up, at least you can take a bunch of clones and get right back in it vs having to strain hunt for a new mother.

Also i use air pruning pots and they work very well.

Soil

I run a DWC system, but I agree I keep my mothers in a Fox Farm soil less mix that way i can still control my nutes. Also to me it seems to slow the upward growth of the mothers.

Sorry mine are actually smart pots not the air pots that have the big holes in the side. But I'm going to give the soil moms a try i hqve never run anything in soil just tried Hydro and Coco

I agree with soil. Unless your pulling hundreds of clones off them, moms in hydro are gonna get out of control sized wise in no time flat. I tried moms in DWC and I had to hack off tons of growth just to keep them from going banana sandwich. IMO moms should be pretty low maintenance, with the least amount of stress and changes possible and soil is the best fit for that.

wish i would of read a bit more about starting seeds in soil prior to popping them... For my previous hydro grows I used rapid rooters and then put them into dwc hand watering them couple times a day until they were established. I Bought FF light warrior and put them in that after they popped out of the rapid rooters. They seem to have slowed drastically when i put them in the light warrior. Ive watered them a couple times w/ 1ml roots organic and couple drops of super thrive. i had them under 2 t-5 6500k moved them under 4 t-5 6500k just a few minutes ago. Had it over i would or probably done 50/50 LW and OF
