Easiest way to get your own supply of stable seeds?

I don't care about a lot of different strains or unique genetics. What I want is a large amount of seeds for my own growing pleasure. I don't want to pay 50-100 for packs of seeds every harvest. Having variety isn't crucial as I can always switch later or just grow something on the side.

So what would be the fastest way to get a stable supply of seeds, and by stable I mean uniform height, flowering time, etc. A true F1 would be this, if I'm not mistaken.

So is it as simple as getting 2 different strains of regular seeds and hoping for a male and pollinating?

Purchase the seeds of choice that you prefer and grow them out be sure to get regular seeds by the way, not being funny but i can see some here getting fem seeds and then going ape s**t on me..So then you grow them out and take from the ones that are fem and male the two with the best qualities you like and put them in a very stable grow area no light leaks constant temps and etc. and let them do there thing dont be messing with them they are plants and they know what kind of forplay they like, so the will be ok you dont want people coming into your room while oyu ry to do your thing do you? lol but seriously thats about the size of it..

Once you get the ladie pollinated you are god to go be sure to treat her well and she wil do the same for you real soon..

If you want to get a real good stabilization on this strain you can repeat the same process over again and again the more the times the better pick the best male and female and breed them..I hope this helps and good luck to..be sure to get a journal going i'd love to watch you go through this process..

if this is what you want then try this

Peak seeds sells a few true breeding strains for a more than fair price... Buy yourself a pack of Skunk and a pack of NL or Blueberry ...those F-1s willll be somewhat stable and all 3 strains have been around for years so there is lotsa info on em....for $60 you could have yourself a couple or few diff strains that will deff kickass and boost your confidence for bigger and better things...if you wanna start breeding try to stick with solid parents or true bredding strains...thats my 2c

Your mistaken.

Only IBL and F4 seeds are uniform.

What is an F1, F2, and IBL

An IBL (inbred line) is a genetically homogeneous strain that grows uniformly from seed.
A hybrid is a strain made up of two genetically unlike parents, IBL or hybrid.
When you cross two different IBL strains for the FIRST time, it is called the F1 generation. When you cross two of the same F1 hybrid (inbreed), it is called the F2 generation.
The process of selective inbreeding must continue at least until the F4 to stabilize the recurrently selected traits. When you cross two specimens of an IBL variety, you get more of the same, because an IBL is homozygous, or true breeding for particular traits.

Woodsmaneh is totally correct and IMHO picked a couple of good breeders also. I started with Sannie's in 2007, going through his site and looking up all the family's history of each strain that I thought was a good fit. Here is a link for Seedfinders - http://en.seedfinder.eu/search.html
I am not so much for the "true breeding strain" rather than a more common gene pool which gives lots of pheno's brought by the common ancestry of several of his strains. Yes I would like to IBL a few which is easy enough to do by a technique called cubing, here is a link for that -https://www.rollitup.org/breeders-paradise/395655-creating-true-breeding-strains-vic.html
This allows me to pick out different pheno's from a strain, back cross to a male from that line of seeds and then growing those out and rebackcrossing which you basically do for a few generations until the IBL is achieved.
But the overall goal for me which will be different for each individual, is a larger gene pool with common traits and become acclimated to my growing situation. Since I grow mostly outside there are more things to consider with the strains because of weather, disease resistance and such. So the basic thing is to pick out strains which have the genetic background you are looking for, common parents, flowering times, plant structure, nute requirements. These things and of course there are many more, are things to consider when starting, this helped me get a start where I felt promise with each cross.
I wish you the best with your endeavors and much success.

You are not mistaken.
If stable breeding stock is used, the F1 generation is very uniform. It will also have "hybrid vigor" and probably be more robust than either of the parents. This vigor is lost in subsequent generations.
The different phenotypes will come out in the F2 generation when F1 siblings are bred. They will most likely NOT be uniform OR resemble the F1 population. That is when the real work begins. They must then be selectively bred for several generations to isolate the the qualities you are looking for.

Buying regular seeds of the strain that you want then find a mom and clone that. If you want to grow from seed every time then take a good male and good female and clone and do a big seed harvest then every now and them after 3 ot 4 seed harvests then buy some more seeds then do that again.
