Man, they look great to me, but that Sativa is going to need 3 or 4 months to FLOWER and get like a tree.

Do Sativas really take that long to flower? do you think i should turn them on to flower now then?
I got a friend on this site who FLOWERED his sativa for 22 weeks. He had to bend it over, tie it over, and just kept cutting the tops off to keep it less than 8 feet tall.

YES, start 12/12 now, keep it on VEG nutes for two weeks, then go to Flowering nutes.

I was wondering about that.

You might want to consider using bushmaster on the mexican sativa's to keep the height down or safer yet, bending the top grow point a little lower then the plant to get it to bush out on the lower internodes. I don't think you should top them. A massive sativa cola sounds real good to me. You don't want to have to bend the whole thing later and you want to keep a good balance of light between the skunk and sativa. Get big roots going too. You want to see roots everywhere. Once the roots are going off, the growth momentum begins.

Thanks man, i have about 3 metres of height in the room to play with so hopefully get some big colas, also i have 3 small sativas but strange enough they are really bushy compared to the others. ive also now got the right balance of oxygen and nutes ect and the roots are really taking off now, js wondering wether i should start flowering? some of the taller sativas are like 17inches and the small bshy ones are 7 inches???? dont really want a flowering room aswell as a veg one ?????????????? really not sre wot to do i been thinkin bout it for agis now cheers

is that the strain mexican sativa or actual landrace mexican sativa? if its the strain it shouldnt get super tall since its hybridized a good amount. even most land race mexicans are hybrid but to a lesser degree

How tall is the early skunk? The mexican sativa's that are 17 inches are probably male. I would not use the veg. nutes on the sativa's for the first two weeks into flower unless you spread it open as I mention below. You may even want to keep the nitrogen low for those first two weeks. They will stretch enough as is. If you flower now they may stretch at least a or two meter and then continue to stretch and flower. Mexican sativas can get to 12'-15'. I think you are better off flowering early because if you run out of room at the top you will have heat issues and hot spots. I've seen 6' plants that are so lanky and tall. Also what you can do is pull the side branches away from the center so all the nodes will be exposed and start growing up on the 12/12 switch. Then you have more even growth and a low canopy. To do this when a branch gets about half a third meter pull it down and almost level. Tie it here and all it's nodes branching will now grow up. You are now maximizing your floor space. Try and let those nodes get a good fingered leaf. This is because a 7 finger then grows a 5 finger and then 3 finger to 1. This helps gauge your cola sizes. 9 fingered is better then 5 fingered by two more because you get 2 more sets of bud sites.

how can you tell from the height that they will be males? the skunk are basically the same size about 16 inches and the skunks are definatley bitches most of my sativas have 11 fingers even on the small inner nodes ?????

from seed. i have a few more sativas that are bout 8 inches tall maybe girls however i may still flower them now or i might wait a week and see if they hit the 12 inches first but if i do that its another 4 inches on the other plants hmmmm there maybe some bending involved
