E.c question

Hi i got a question.

Say i am growing in soil and the e.c of my run off after watering is 0.40 and i want it to be 0.80.Do i feed with a 0.80 solution or just a 0.40 solution,if you get me...

if its 0.4 already would adding 0.80 to it bring it up to 1.2 or would adding 8.0 just stabalise ti at 8.0.
