Dyna-Gro Test

I recently reached out to a few companies asking if I could test some of their products. One of them was the nutrient company Dyna-Gro. They sent out their products for me to test, and I am excited to get started!
I am testing the entire nutrient line from seed to harvest and logging everything along the way. I will be running heirloom roma tomatoes in my RDWC system.


I'm using RO water with a 50ppm base. I added week one from the feeding schedule and brought the water to 150ppm and ph of 6.0 to soak the jiffy pellets. Once soaked I dropped in the seeds and put in a warm place.

Since I am running their entire product line, it's all I'm going to use. No Cal-Mag, no Epsom. Not even Hydroguard! Just what they say.
I asked Caroline (Director of marketing and sales) if they had a product comparable to Hydroguard, and this is what she gave me to use:

Application Rates:
Use 1 tsp. per gallon of water at each or every other watering. Reapply with every nutrient change.

Recommended Crops: All plants in hydroponic and aquaponic systems as well as soil.

The other day I was defoliating and ended up with a clipping. I decided to try the rooting gel on it.

I'm going to also be doing a comparison on these as well as just plain water. I will take the clippings from the same plant.

i read it and i understand you're lucky enough not to play for this product that is irrelevant to my comment
id use it if it was given to me free but im sure its no different to all the res of the nutrients but it probably cost twice as much granted i didn't look up pricing
maybe provide us with what this company expects us to pay and maybe try it on cannabis not a tomato

Ok, moving on.

I am also using it in my entire garden. I just started a bunch of new plants for winter, so it will be perfect. I'll also include these and give updates. The Romas are still germinating.

Subbed. I may have to start growing my own food if the revolution goes poorly. I've used DynaGro in the past and still use it sparingly for certain plants or problems but mostly outdoors for flowers or decorative plants. Just the MagPro and FoliagePro I found useful. @homebrewer is a big DynaGro user and has done extensive runs using the line up.

I'm interested.. DynaGrow products are cheap here and you don't have to use much product according to schedules. Product is working very well so far for me. Interested to see where you go with this..Thanks.

@Big Perm ....What soil are you using? I'm using ProMix... yours looks similar.

I'm using a 60/40 mix of coco and perlite. How do you like the ProMix?

I like it. I have been using it for awhile now.... I'm using tap water though and as long as the water schedule and nute strength is dialled in it works great.

DG is hands down one of the best nutrient companies on the market. They make cheap, versatile, easy to use 1-part formulas that just crush it. That being said, any other company producing a 1-part with similar ratios will give similar results in terms of yield. Personally I love their pH stability in hydro and the ease of use in peat. You'll probably get some folks saying '..blah, blah, blah, dry salts are cheaper'. Yeah, they're also a pain in the dick, dusty, and not nearly as versatile, all for a whopping savings of $4 over a 20 ounce grow. DG ftw!

DAY 6
The romas are ready for the hydroton. I put them in coco to get them started.


I filled a tray with about 1" of the week 1 solution at 150ppm, pH 6.0
They'll wick this up over the next few days.

Nothing wrong with dyna gro, and it’s cheap.

It’s been around forever. Maybe try google instead of whatever it is you’re doing now.

I did one plant in a peat blended soil as the last time I grew the strain out it hermed after a few weeks and I assumed it was due to hot soil. So this run I just used Foliage Pro (2-3 ml per gal) alone vs. organic. I had some deficiencies and one or two nanners towards the end but it worked out nicely. I'll include some pix later.
