Dying (or already dead) Plant :(

Hey all,

Need to ask for some directions since its my first grow. I have successfully grown 1 plant (actually, in the process of growing for about 2-3 weeks now) and decided to start my 2nd plant about a week ago. There have been some changes in my growing mediums because i wanted to test out which one is better for experimental purposes.

1st Plant: Grown in regular soil (pH 5.5-6.8)
2nd Plant: Grown in Coco compact

Anyways, my 2nd plant, after successfully germinating the seed and planting, took some time for it to rise up. i noticed that the stem was turning to a purple/red color and it wouldn't straighten out as quick as the first plant. Would it be because it was due to malnutrition? I did some research over the net and they say that 100% using Coco Compact have next to no nutrition. So i mixed very little 20-20-20 nutes with lots of water and the plant started to rise after a day or two. Then last night, I noticed the plant had just fallen over and the stem was very soft. Has my plant died?

pH level of 2nd Plant: 6.5-6.8
Using Mineral/Distilled water
Light source: 85W CFL and 40W LED - 18 hrs for CFL and 6 hrs LED 24 hours a day.

i looked thru his page, pretty good stuff he's got going on... as for pics, im not too sure how to upload them... not just a grow noob but also a computer noob...

Did you pre rinse the coco? I'm reg soil but I gather it can be an issue.

i did pre rinse the coco... actually, i just watered down until i had water coming from the holes... i dont think i'll continue with the coco now... it has traumatized me... sigh...

Dude, there is so much info available here. If I may make a suggestion; read, take notes and learn from the amazing number of excellent growers who are kind enough to share there techniques on this site. Leave experementing to the experienced..they have tried it all.
