Hi everyone.
I'm really hoping I can get some input from you more experienced dwc'ers on the board. For the first couple weeks of this grow, the roots were nice and white. Then after introducing Sensi Grow, B-52 and Voodoo Juice at 1/4 strength, the next morning the roots were already brown as hell and slimy and nasty. I thought I was doomed, but I was able to salvage them somehow by draining the rez and filling with just reverse osmosis water and some bleach, 3% hydrogen peroxide. I also sprinkled some sm-90 in there. A few days after doing that I saw some new white roots coming out of the net pots so I cut off all the rotted roots, to my surprise they all grew nice new white roots sytems back within days. I let the plants continue to sit in that rez solution for another week and a half or so. Also I figured the roots were maybe struggling with oxygen so I put in some more airstones, I have 6 airstones and 9 plants in there currently. My water temp is 69-70.
Last night, I changed the rez and introduced the nutes again w/ SM-90. Checked this morning, low and behold, it's starting again. Not nearly as bad as it was the first time, but they're starting to brown and I can smell that earthy smell to the roots. Is there still not enough oxygen in the water or something? I figured there was since the roots were flourishing when they were in the flush solution...does the water need more oxygen once you introduce nutes or something?
Please take a look at the pics. The color's not so great in the first but the second is good lighting. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this keeps plaguing me?
Thanks all!!
