Yo whats up everyone. this is my first grow so im really new to this. im still learning and researching alot. i thought id make a journal so you guys can tell me how im doing and help me out. THANKS!

Strain: purple kush, and grape punch. these are both clones i purchased from the club

Lights: right now im using cfl for vegetation. but i almost have enough money for a hps for when it flowers. right now my light situations looking bad.

Nutrients: im using the dutchmaster advance. grow A and B, grow max, silica, zone, potash and flower A and B

i would have started this journal from the start of my grow op but i didnt know about this forum for a while.. but heres some pics of my plants so far. its four weeks and this is its last week. i dont know if i should add weeks to the vegetation or what. but i went online to this nutrient calculator and it said four weeks so thats what i did.

yaaa boi way to go with a DWC, but are you only veggin for 4-5 weeks? You've got a solid line of products, tune em up right and your good to grow, making sure your not adding Hydrogen Peroxide to ORGANIC nutrients as it will deteriorate certain elements creating lockouts and deficiencies. Spray em with either water or a foliar feed throughout veg, but not much at all during budding. Check out my Mother plant in a DWC got a great pic of my airstones and the resulting growth

thanks for your response! yea im vegging for 5 weeks the pictures up are the start of the plants 4th week. yea i didnt really know much about nutrients, i havent added nothing but the nutrients... idk if theres something else i should add? but i never sprayed my plant either but im about to start! nice grows! thanks for the advice.

also should i veg longer?! and im guessing its probably too late to top them huh? because i sorta just found out about topping.

I'm sure that my mother has vegged for over 8 weeks, they say 1 foot of height for every gallon so my plant is almost 2 and a half feet tall and will at least double in size with flowering. and to be honest im almost regretting growin it as tall as it is as I move it outside every day and its just getting big lol
switch er over at the 5th week and with a little lst'ing (low stress training) you can still grow some decent buds without a hps but cfls if used as effective and efficient as possible. you should educate yourself on tieing down some shoots and if you wanted to do any topping you can if you healed for a week before flowering.

5th week sounds good thanks because i was confused if that was too short. but yea! i got my hps light today! im excited! so what is low stress training?

low stress training is lightly bending a branch or shoot, usually downward, augmenting light distribution.
pinching is another method used by some growers. if done correctly, a pinched branch's insides soften, perhaps tear lightly, and heal stronger than before, alot like had you broken your arm. pinch one way, quarter turn and pinch, then lightly knock it over in whichever direction. a good pinch should enlarge the stem but from experience, it hasn't proven worthwhile although you can develop some gnarly knuckles lol i use wax string to tie my lowest shoots down to the lid of my dwc

oh nice im gonna look into that. do you know when im supposed to bend the branch or shoot downward? also i have some little holes, i dont know if they are from bugs because i cant find any..but i cant figure out where it can be from. and i was wondering if you think my light is at a good distance. its about 9 or 10 inches from the hps light. im not sure if its too close because some leaves are starting to curl at the sides. but heres some pics to be more helpfull... thanks!

oh yea and also i have two grapefruit diesel they are three weeks so only a week behind grape punch and purple kush. but i was wondering if anyone has ever grown grapefruit diesel as well and would like to share their experiences because it seems like its growing really slow for me. the grape punch and purple kush are getting really big compared to the two grapefruit, and they are only a week ahead. the two grapefruit diesel has the same set up as the purple kush and grapepunch the only thing different is im using different nutrients.

the nutrients are supernatural brand. i have super boost, gro aqua, and bloom aqua.
i dont know if there is more that is supposed to come with this set but thats all i have.

i took out the three cfl and now there is only the hps light. because someone told me that the hps light will be good enough for all the plants and that the cfl wouldnt really do nothing and just waste energy. what do you guys think?

from my experience more light spectrums help your plant grow. i beleive your CFL were 6500k atleast.

i've seen most people use CFL on sides of their plants to catch where the HPS light misses from the birds eye.

i'm no pro though. never had a chance to flower fully yet.

man. these grape fruit diesels are confusing the hell out of me. what do you think? is it my nutrients or is it the strain that is making it grow sooo sloooww

Yo you can lst at ANY point in your plants life, if done properly, as it is an extremely low-risk technique. And LimitedTimer is correct, the more light the better especially in flowering. I do believe your hps could be a bit higher as they're hot and have quite penetrative light. Just a couple cfls here and there, ESPECIALLY if you lst, you can make sure that every potential bud grows.
As for your nutrients shake the hell out of the bottle and give your next solution a real wicked whisking, you know with a whisk. My Floranova is THICK LIKE MOLASSES and you gotta whisk the crap out of it or it doesn't dilute. Sorry though I have no experience with those in particular strains.

alright so sorry i havent up dated my journal in a while. but alot of stuff has happend! later on today or tomorrow i will have a bunch of pics! i just have a question if anyone could answer it. i was wonder if its bad to let your plant get to big before flowering. will it give you marijuana that isnt as strong or will it be the same? thanks again!

As far as I know, quality of bud is not determined by the size of your plant. I grew my plant passed 2 feet tall before I flowered and WOW it got fucking huge, that's all you really gotta worry about is your plant often doubles/triples in size once you flower.
