DWC plant growth troubles? Thought DWC was supposed..

I was under the impression that DWC will grow faster than in soil. I have a 5 gal white bucket with red lid.

After 2 1/2 weeks i feel that after watching it, it just is not growing and almost looks as if its dieing, but is still hanging in there..

I just wrapped the bucket and lid in dark black construction bags. Will this plant come back and start growing normally? or shall i start another clone?

This will be my 2nd attempt at DWC airstone & pump. This also looks like it will be my last due to the 2nd failure. I just dont get it!?

the roots are growing, but very slowly.. almost slower than my 1st attempt. the only thing that has changed since the first attempt is the water temperature.. and it has gone down, first time it was like above 80 lol

the only reason i think something is fucked up is because when i take cuttings and use my aero cloner.. those roots within 3-4 days are like crazy growth..

what are the water levels? are the roots getting misted or wet regularly? If you get it right DWC will grow much faster than soil. make sure no light is getting to the roots and they have plenty of oxygen and moisture. I'd hang in with it, if you dont fix the problem the new clone will do the same most likely

the net basket is sitting maybe a half in. or 1 in. into the water.. i have 2 air pumps with 2 airstones. Why do you think a new clone would do the same? I'll try to get some pics..

If its the environment causing the issue it will do the same. i always have my water a few inches below the net pots but make sure the mist from the bubbles is wetting them constantly. you could be drowning the roots if you dont have enough air getting to them

depends on the strength of your pumps, i think its better to have that gap between the water and bottom of the net pot as it encourages aerial roots. When my roots hit the water they actually grow towards the air stones like the tops would towards the light lol

You're doing it wrong. With the little amount of useful info you provide it's impossible to say what. What nutes are you using and PPM, any other additives, ambient temps, lights and distance, ph, and is your bucket light proof? Post pictures of the roots and leaves and anything else you can think of.

Check out hempy buckets if you decide not to DWC.

to tell you the truth, i think dwc is about the easiest way to grow. follow a few basic rules like ph,ppm, res temp, and o2, and you have nice plants.
