DWC noob

I should have done more research on this beforehand..

To those who do DWC, is it really necessary to keep the water solution at 65 degrees?

The owner of the local hydro shop had a class to where we built our own DWC bucket. In his shop he has a pepper plant in a bucket. Now I see online that the water that the plant grows in should be 65 degrees. His pepper plant is sitting on the floor inside a tent under a MH light so I doubt his temp is 65. I don’t see how one would do this in a five gallon bucket..

I’m only on my second grow and I’m in soil, but wanted to try DWC on my next grow. Any help will be much appreciated.

Not necessary, but damn it helps health and overall vigor immensely. Colder water holds slightly more dissolved oxygen.

@Airwalker16 makes a good point. chill if you can. if not, you need to pick either running sterile or wiht beneficial bacteria. you can search a bunch about either method. there is no "best" way.

Maybe. Spending $300+ for a chiller seems like a bit much considering I might not even like running a DWC grow though.

Thanks for the help.

If you get a chiller and run RDWC with at least 4-12 bucket sites, I can PROMISE you, you will never go back. ;)

P.s. active aqua 1/10HP chillers $250. They're very sturdy , well made, and reliable units.

Before spending $300+ on a chiller, which tends to use a lot of electric, check out O2Grow, DO emitters, which also eliminates the need for air pumps/stones

Again you're pimping something you've never used.. WTF.. You did the same thing on THCF.. You should stick to your theory "small root balls don't affect your yield ..

Bro, those fuckin things last a YEAR & COST 10X what a chiller does. You know why nobody posts threads using them? Cause they're impractical and pointless.

No, I just planned on one bucket/plant. I don’t have the space for the 4-12 system.

Hi
I have dwc water farm and just use ice-brix (out of the waterfarm push it into one side)
The temp always under 70 and it’s fine
You could find them in amazon delivery food packages .
Everyday 2 times replace them .
Really works fine

Personally, I've always opted for beneficials even if my water temp is perfect. Sort of gives you room for error and stuff like Great White is pretty cheap. Besides...it seems like root growth is more explosive, the added protection from bad bacteria is just a bonus... :)

Where did you get your information?

https://www.o2grow.com/store. 20 gallon Emitter is ony $299, and replacement emitters are only 60-$90 for 10 to 60 gallon rez. I am using waterfalls, but there is no way they produce as much DO, and the droplets are huge by comparison. I took the lid off to show the fountain in action

I haven't tried it yet, but will

For what it's worth (and I dont reccomend it) I ran an rdwc last summer with water temps reaching 80+ Fahrenheit with no root issues at all. I did use an airstone at each site + waterfalls. I use a pool shock solution for a sterile res. Bennie always left a slimy mess in my dwc systems.

12 buckets would be really pushing it with a 10th horse chiller, maybe if it were drop in.

I meant to say 10 but couldn't edit it after 2 days.
I'd think ten would be kind of hard to if rdwc with a main res of any size. I run a 10th horse in an insulated system and if it gets really hot the chiller has a hard time keeping up or at least chilling down to a certain point.
