DWC medium.

Im starting up my second grow pretty soon here, a 6 bucket DWC grow, i just have a few ?'s. does the size of the net pot matter when it comes to a 5 gal DWC bucket grow? i have some 6" pots and a lot of 3" i wanna put the 3 inchers to use. and for a medium i have this expandable coco stuff i think? i got it from target its used for starting seeds, but ive used it to clone in and it worked great, it comes in a brick form mix with water and it expands like 10 times its size and what not. but has anyone used the stuff before? http://oaktreeseed.com/images/coco-fiber-brick-01.jpg <- this stuff

The smaller pot size will restrict some plant growth.
Especially stem girth, which means your plant will be smaller too.

I would not go with Coco coir in a DWC.
That is for soilless, plus you'll have particles and PH probs in your bucket eventually.
A bag of Hydroton is less than $10.
Rinse that shit like your life depends on it, because your plants life DOES ! lol
I took a clear tote, approx 22"L x 14"W x 7" high, and drilled LOTS of small holes all over the bottom to use as my hydroton rinser.
Poured the rocks in and just rinsed off the sediment with a water hose for about 20 minutes.
You will always get some sediment though, from the friction of the stones against each other.
Soak it in water PH'd at 5.5 for at least 12hrs, 24hrs preferred, before using for the first time.
After each grow, I pour my hydroton into a big ass pot of room temp water and boiling them.
Then start all over again with fresh rocks in a new grow !!

thats exactly what i was thinking after i posted this i realized the coco fiber is small and shredded and would slip through the nets.
im thinking about using the 3" pots individually in smaller size buckets, i only have 6 of them and i could do a few smaller plants.
I have Hydroton already but im gonna need more for the 6" pots, for buckets i have a couple 5 gallon gray lowes buckets, im buying more here this weekend. I just read like 20 somethin pages on one of your forums( c99 and pure gooey dwc scrog) about your grow with the two coolers with the CFL's i didnt think CFL's could produce results like you had aha
But thanks for the info and help man, + Rep (:

No prob Bro !
My CFL's are just for veg, then the 400w Hortilux kicks in for bloom ! lol
Thanks for checking out my thread too !

If any of your plants get too big for the 3 inch pots, you can always transplant them right into the 6 inch pots and fill in with more hydroton.

How do i go about transplanting from a smaller net pot to the larger? seems like it would be a bitch to do aha.
I veg under 600Watts of CFL's, 1 300W and like 10 23W, for flower i add my 400W MH into the mix, everyone says HPS for flower but i like the MH for now until i get a HPS.
Oh an what caused your left side cooler in that thread to have the left plants real small for a while? i think i missed the part where you explained why or if you even did, (:

I believe you're referring to the C99 F5's.
They were just too slow or stalled.
Must be a F5 thing !?
