DWC Maintenance How to ?

Ok, so I have a set up I'm a first time grower I have done my homework and know what to do and when, but not the how....

How do you change water? Do you need to put the plants in a special container during the switch, or how long can they be out of the water?

also lots of people mention lowering the res during the grow why is this?

You change the water by draining it with either a drain valve or a pump or even by siphoning it. Roots actually like an air bath, I leave mine out for about 30 minutes each res change.
