So after growing in soilless for 7 years i think im going to give DWC a go. I plan to start with one plant, which i will want to scrog out.

So question one is... if i plan to have a 4x4 screen filled out after stretch is done how much root mass will i end up with? Or rather should i use a 5 gal bucket for a pot or something bigger?

Second question: if veg stage is going well then how much veg time will it take to fill out a 4x4 screen to 2/3rds or 3/4s full? I hear DWC grows way way faster...

5 gal buckets work great black food grade plastic.

And every strain is different. Youll have to just grow it until your plant covers you grow space, then flower. Make sure its big enough, you can just cut your plant back to whatever size and shape you want a few days befor you flip to flower

Do you do dwc?

Will 5 gal be big enough for a root system that devolps through say 3ish weeks of veg and say 9 to 10 weeks of bloom?

Ya... ive scogged before with many strains and there are certainly differences in strains.

But i also noticed that growth speed didint seem to change much between the dozen or so strains ive done. Structure and yield changed lots, but generally they all grew out in veg at about the same speed...

My real question i guess should be... if strain "A" will fill a 4x4 screen in peat in about 3 to 4 weeks then would strain "A"grow out the same space in half the time doing DWC good and proper?

I dunno about half the time but i think your trying to make plans for something that you cannot .

There are alot of factors that play. Dwc is faster. But not twice as fast.

Just grow your plants and eventually youll get efficient.

Ive done dwc and lots of variations.

Well I didn't expect double the growth speed. Don't know what to expect. And that is why I asked if any experience RWC Growers could estimate the time to fill out a 4 x 4 screen.

All I am trying to do is estimate the total time of this next grow so I can plan accordingly. I've done this for all my grows and I've usually come in about a week give or take because I know my strains. Except for the grows where something went catastrophically wrong... lol

I thought all growers do this....

I mean... my routine grow would require a solid 40 hours to cut down, trim and get drying. Thats something that a workin man or family man needs to plan for no?

This next grow is only going to be one big plant so... not important i guess... but old habits...

I fill a 5x5 with two 5 gallon buckets in rdwc.
Check out my grow because its pretty close to what you are asking and will give you a timeline.

I have a monster super skunk vegging right now bro. And it's been vegging for 8 weeks in dwc. It takes short time to fill in any screen really depends on how tall you let her go before training her. Mine is only about 13 in tall but a lil over 3 ft wide......

20170528_143924[331].jpg this was 7 or 8 weeks of veg and 12 weeks of flower. 2 plants took roughly 8 weeks from clone to fill my 4x8 net.

Cook thanks
Right now I have a Death Star in a 5 gallon dwc also a Black D.O.G. in coco in a 10 gallon fabric pot, both under the net.
20181015_205139_resized[2254].jpg The Death Star from clone is going on week 6 of veg. In a couple weeks it will or should fill nearly every square in that 4x4 area of the tent. This is my 4th round with this strain.

So with scrog... whats your method of changing the water out when you need to? Did you make a drain for the buckets?
