what part of a plant is usually used to make hash? the shake?

when you've manicured your budds save all the clippings and small stems. and dry them and make HASH

thanks how much you need to make, say a half ounce of good hash?

say if you have a good handful of dry clippings then 15% of that is resin, but has to be gently put threw a seive heated then pressed.
