Dumb question: how to add nutrients to dwc

So I'm feeding maxi series nutrients on their feeding schedule. So here's my dumb question on week one it says add 0.25 tsp per gallon of maxi grow. On week 2 it' says to add 0.50 tsp per gallon. Does this mean add 0.50 on top of the 0.25 that I added on week one? Is that how it works? I feel like I've been relying on the ppm too much. What if the ppm never goes down after the first feeding? I'm using RO water that's 0 ppm water. Thanks guys.

I would follow what my PPM/EC meter was telling me in regards to how much the plant is eating instead of the feed chart. Dutch Master's recommended feed chart would fry my plants. If the PPM doesnt get reduced that means the concentration of the salts is staying the same as the plant is drinking water and I would say you are right where you need to be for that plants given age.

What is the pH doing? Rising slightly?

But to answer your question, week 1 youre .25ml, week 2 dump and change the rez and then add in .50, week three dump the rez and add in .75 (this is a made up number), hopefully thats clear, it makes sense in my head.

Side note: are you using cal mag supplements? With RO water you will probably need to add it back in unless your nutes are heavy enough with it. I have to dose cal mag in my tap water of .14ec

I don't use that particular line, but generally they want you to completely change out the solution once a week. Assuming this is true with your nutes, your answer would be no, do not add .5 on top of .25 for week 2.

Generally, DWC takes much less nutrients than they call for and many people start with 1/4 of the called for strength and wait for slight signs of deficiency if you aren't used to a particular strain and adjust feedings from there based on the plant. I start at .5 EC which would be 250ppm. The strain I have now never made it to full strength veg nutes according to the feeding schedule before I flipped to flowering. It was perfectly happy at 1.6 EC when full strength would have been closer to 2 or 2.1EC.

Early in veg, I don't change out the solution every week since the plants are barely eating. I just add a little bit of nutes to bring up the levels as they grow and start to look hungry. I'll push a 'batch' of solution like this for up to 3 weeks without changing it. Once they start feeding more though, you'd be wise to keep up with changes so the nute ratios don't get out of whack.

I grow DWC, I like to change out my water ever week. Ever 10-12 days if they are in early veg. Always switch out your water with each feed, just adding nutes is going to burn shit and the plants need fresh water. Don't compound the nutrients, if it says .5 one week, just do .5. You have an RO filter, thats probably the best thing you could do for your hydro plant. I was always getting nute burn until I got an RO.

I would start out using 1/4 of what the company suggests. They want you to use max nutrients so you go through more of their product and that is dangerous ground if you can't check your ppms.

Do you have a TDS/EC and a PH meter? You should get one and use them. Dont go by manufacturers recommendations and mix according to what a few people that have grown the strain suggest. I rarely go over 650ppm's with my setup.

I never go by the manufacture's advise, to me they want you to use it up fast so you have to buy more, besides when I check their measures it always turns out to be way too high, burning my plants, I only go by reading my ppm's with my meter and have never had problems doing it that way.

Really?? Fox farms schedule worked well on my coco grow. But then again it was coco. Anyhow okay thanks for that fix bit. See I have roughly 40 gallons I have to change each week which uses a hell of a lot of water, nutrients, and my wallets crys everytime I dump that water out. It just seems like a huge waste of money. Anyways thanks again

Well then you should look into using the lucas formula. That's what I'm running with Maxi series right now. Bout the only time I empty my rez is when I'm switching to flower. And as far as adding nutes I go by my TDS and how the plant looks. The mfg suggested feeding schedule just gives me a starting point but if I added what they suggested to my water my plant would burn up!

I dont buy the name brand nutes or yes it would get rather expensive!! I buy from a local manufacturer at a reasonable price. Less than $50 for a gallon of a and one of b. Lasts me about 8 - 10 complete runs. As stated you could follow lucas and add back.
