Does anybody have experience with duct silencers? Do they really work?
I put one of these on the carbon filter/fan setup i have in my living room to make it completely silent on the lowest speed (which still moves a ton of air)Does anybody have experience with duct silencers? Do they really work?
Cool... thanks man. I was skeptical but I believe I'll give it a try.I put one of these on the carbon filter/fan setup i have in my living room to make it completely silent on the lowest speed (which still moves a ton of air)

I've never done it so I wouldn't know.Pretty easy to make a muffler
go down to auto zone and get yourself a Cherry Bomb glasspack with offset inlet/outlet.Pretty easy to make a muffler
Bap Bap Bap when you let off, back in the mid 80's everybody wanted them.go down to auto zone and get yourself a Cherry Bomb glasspack with offset inlet/outlet.

that pic from amazon looks like that eggshell material inside a tube. for 65 bucks.Lol I'll give it a try.
My thoughts exactly.that pic from amazon looks like that eggshell material inside a tube. for 65 bucks.

Yep thats exactly what it is. The thing is huge though, pictures dont do it justice. Getting a piece of 12'' ducting, two 12'' to 8'' reducers, and the eggshell foam is going to cost you close to 65 bones plus you have to put it together and in the end it wont look nearly as professional as the ac infinity unit.My thoughts exactly.
Meh i like well built things. Wouldnt trust a cardboard box to be part of my exhaust system.A 5' piece of flexible hose works.A cardboard box with rags in it,really anything that disturbs the air flow will help.Be creative use what ya have around.
My dad use to say a fool and his money soon part.Meh i like well built things. Wouldnt trust a cardboard box to be part of my exhaust system.
Meh ive seen plenty of grows lost because of a rigged up exhaust system failing. My dad use to say a fool and his money soon part.
Yeah I've ditched the silencer for the tent fan. I just learned to get the biggest fan/filter i can fit in the tent and run it at 50% or less and it still moves plenty of air while doing so quietly.Recently purchased an 8” duct silencer as the new room backs on to a neighbours garden.
100% recommend them for reducing the noise but don’t expect complete silence if the fan speed is on full.
Yea, did the same. The filtering is greatly improved, no more harmonic resonance and can't hear it 3 ft away.I just learned to get the biggest fan/filter i can fit in the tent and run it at 50% or less and it still moves plenty of air while doing so quietly.
Im still running the flex duct. When the grow room door is closed its basically silent thats all i need.Yea, did the same. The filtering is greatly improved, no more harmonic resonance and can't hear it 3 ft away.
Got rid of the wavy gravy duct run with support line and 90deg supports for the bends.
