Dual Spectrum Light

I just purchased a 1000w dual spectrum light. Does this means its a dual arc (meaning there's both types of light inside the bulb, perhaps a 600w hps & 400w mh), or could it be an HPS that emits blue range as well (don't know if this even exists)?

I am not familiar with dual spectrum, but dual arc I am very familiar with.

Might be a marketing gimmick, might not, but I understand it as just one spectrum and different ranges throughout.( enhanced spectrum is used a lot as well)
A 1000 watt dual arc bulb is a 600 watt hps and a 400 watt MH in the same filament carriage. It can be run off a standard 1000 watt HPS ballast. The 600 watt model is a 400 watt hps and a 200 watt mh filament and runs off a 600 watt hps ballast
A dual arc bulb is easy to spot, has the long narrow hps filament first and then the pillow style mh filament at the end of the bulb.

hmm it could be a dual arc. I need to check my order. I hope it's not, b/c I ordered a 1000w thinking I'd get 1000w in hps + blue spectrum.

The only other one other then HPS and MH was a bulb made by Phillips and they discontinued it, but it had great reviews for growing , was called ceramic metal halide ,it was a duel spectrum bulb that was spot on for growing . they still can be found but you must use a magnetic MH set up to run them.

ok so my bulb's probably a dual arc then, containing both mh & hps, not just hps? it said dual spectrum, just not 100% sure what it meant

Dual spectrum normally means that it has enhanced blue spectrum.

Look at SUNMASTER DUAL SPEC LAMPS.

These maybe what you've got or similar.

ok I see those. one other question. would a 1000w dual spectrum hps such as one from sunmaster be as strong as a 1000w hps? I'm guessing it would be, but just wondering if added blue spec would weaken the red spec it puts out is any weaker.

If you actually check the lumens output of the dual specs they are generally slightly higher.

For example
600w 95000 lumens dual spec
600w 90000 lumens standard hps.

From what I can remember the extra 5000 is added blue.

I used to use the SUNMASTER lamps but now use the SYLVANIA grolux lamp.

Added blue spec generally means slightly better veg growth when using the hps dual spec alone.
