Drying your buds with rice?

Hey everyone, starting to look into drying the plants I have been growing and wondered if anyone has used a technique to immitate a dry atmosphere using rice?

Basically i have no dry, relatively warm room in the house i can dry my dope out. I was thinking a airtight rubbermaid container or something with a base layer of rice and drying racks with the buds sitting above them?

Good idea?Bad Idea? Anyone tried it. Thanks

id imagine youd need very light air circulation to avoid some issues.

but keep in mind you dont want DRY weed, you want CURED weed.

a dry green bud makes a joint that burns like a roadflare and will provide 2 hits each for 3 people, and if you hold it like a microphone it burns to the bone.

cured weed makes a joint that goes out if you stop smoking it, and will give 4 or 5 hits to those same 3 people.

you need to slowly dry the weed (for the first 3-4 days at least)

I have used the rice method several times and am doing as we speak!! I like to get 2 or 3 silica packets (little bottles sealed up) from small tylenol bottles and use them with the rice. I like to use small pill bottles, put a layer of rice at the bottom then the bud and add a silica pack to the top. Takes a couples of days still but does a pretty good job if you just can't wait...

lol i started this exact same threat about a year ago.
seems nobody has tried it, but everyone seems to think its a good idea... someoen needs to try it out and give us results!!!

Oh it works, leaves no bad aftertaste and doesn't mold.

Sounds plausible, but I have no idea how much rice you'd need. You could also do the dry ice method.

I used equal amount of rice to bud. Changed the rice about every 3 days. I've tried the dry ice method also but it seemed to leave that chlorophyll taste but it was a little faster if you're in need. Both methods cut the time in half at least.

damn, i've never even thought of this method.. i always use a bag full of rice when i drop my phone into water or it gets a lil wet, and it works great for pulling the moisture out of my phone... i think i will have to give this a try for my next harvest..

Im on my first grow but I will try this method. Carboard box with the bud laid on shredded news paper and more newsppaper on top then computer fan cut in to one end of the box blowing air in. Whats humidity and temp ideal for growing?

I know this is really old and I hope you're still on here. Did this work out for you !?! Im generally curious because im planning to do the exact same thing.
