Hey peeps, I Just recently chopped and finished up a room full of nice, stinky DANK, This only being my 4th Harvest from my new perpetual garden SO im still very much a newb. at more than a few things. HERE in lies the Problemo,, Now i dont remember there being such a Loss of that beautiful DANK smell a few days after they hang??. Certainly not the aroma they had a few weeks ago?? after a 5-8 day dry in a climate controlled Darkroom, temps between 69deg -76deg Far.and. Rel.Humidity between 55-70%( NEVER DROPPED BELOW 55%) I Dryed until i had that nice snap on the stem, and into the jar they went!..well i been burping(checking) all jars on all strains and ALL OF THE DANK SMELL HAS LEFT THE BUILDING AND A SLIGHT FRESH GRASSY UNDERTONE ENEVELOPED THE JARS!!! What Am I doing wrong?? I just dont want to put the final ''seal'' on my mason jars full of DANK and 3 weeks from now I open up the Jars to a unpleasent ''i just mowed the lawn smell.! Anybody?. Already looked at a few dry/cure threads??

I ran into same problem last run??.....The only thing I can think I did...Is dried the mmj too quick? As the room that I dried in....was at about 85 F and 50% Humidity.......Second time this has happened to me......just this time the weed was almost smelless, unless you rip open the bud and smell the inside? Any ideas guys and gals? TY

partially strain dependent. might have overdried, didn't jar em soon enough. The stem snap thing is just a rough guideline, depends on how big and thick the buds are.

Personally I like my bud stems to still have some flex to them when I jar.

Then I seal for 24 hours, burp and check for moisture level. If buds feel a little moist I empty them out onto newspaper until they crisp up again and repeat. Usually after around 4-5 days of this I can just burp the jars but I only burp my jars if my mini hydrometer reads above 70%. Otherwise it remains closed.

In 75F temps my buds are dry enough in 6-7 days.

In 65-70f my buds are dry enough in 9-10 days for jars.

I have just invested in a few 60g boveda 62% humidipaks ready for my next harvest to test them out.

They are supposed to be the business for curing.

Okay, so you hung up them. Waited for the stem to snap. Than trimmed, into jars?

Did you burp the jars daily ?
Yup bout a week in the 1/2 gallon mason jars, also have 62%bovedas but no need to use them if i already screwed up!..See i did this before awhile back when i didnt know shit, i super quicked dryed my buds ruined the whole shabang . I just dont understand? I went 'low and slow'' this time around nice chilled cool dark room with humidity dialed in with humidifier

Hmm...I wet trim and fill drying racks..I try to take 2 weeks to get to the "just able to snap" part (there is no grassy or hay smell at this point). Less just doesn't seem to work as well...
From the racks to jars and burp daily for an hour. This lasts "about" 2 weeks again. This does increase the desired effect too.
Everything is always stinky......a 1/4 in a car makes the whole car reek after just a short time.....Transporting quantities can be nerve racking!......"roasting" bags help as does dbl bagging, but it is still stinky......To run legal I use a safe in the trunk and I still sweat - lol

Running a "Sweet" type product and/or molasses increases the "stink" factor also.

Grassy or hay smells indicate incomplete dry and cure.

I think that your spot on about to fast a dry....

there is no need for the broveda packs until your done with the curing process. you want to get the r/h down to a stable 50-55% (no lower than 50%). then you put your humidity packs in.

dr. who, I do the same thing. cut, trim, place in nets until snaps. then inot mason jars and burp until 55%, then broveda packs go in and ready for my patients.

Honestly guys...I used the Boveda 62% about a yr ago in jars....and found an odd smell developing.....I would stay away from....but that's just me.....they did their job...but smell change became an issue....Cheers and thanks for all the reply's guys and gals! :)
