i have seedlings that are about a week old and seem to be doing fine. One problem though, the stems grew to about 5" and now they are starting to fall over. They have 2 sets of healthy leaves that seem to heavy for the stems. im using 24 hrs flourecent lighting with the light about 1' over head and watering about 16 oz. of water for 40 of them. i gently tied them up to a support rod for the time being. they are kick ass strans so id be very dissapointed if they turned for the worse. is there something im doing wrong or is there anything i can do to help them?

no. do you think that it would help? i know casual wind blow will strengthen bigger plants but these are only a week old. i will give it a shot though. i just see all these pics of short bushy seedlings and wonder how they got that way. this is my first time growing from seeds, i normally use clones. i know not to give em nutes right away, but is there any other advice or knowledge you can share with me? -thanks for responding-

My best idea is to build the dirt up around the stem a little to stabilize the plant with a shorter stem. Put a fan in there blowing indirectly on them just so they wave around a little to build up a little stem strength. You can always use a tooth pick to prop them up as well. Good luck.

thanks for the advice, sounds sollid to me. do you think its to earl to transplant?? i only want to do it once, going from a 2" peete moss cube to a two gallon container. the medium they are gong into is foxfarm ocean foerst and another high quallity nute packed soil. the roots have already stretched to the drainholes in the bottom of its current container. the seeds started sprouting 12-22-07. you think its to early??

I would go ahead and do it now. I have never liked those peat moss cubes they just never really disintegrate in the pot once planted. Cut out the bottom and a cut down all 4 corners of the peat moss cubes if you can. Even better let it mostly dry out and turn it upside down give it a little shake and plunk out the dirt cube and plant. This should be harmless to the plant I have found them to be quite resilient just doing it this way.
