dr greenthumbs G13???????

200$ for 2 FEMs ? I don't mind paying . Price is not an issue . But to be honest , I need someone to validate the price for me . So please explain why it's worth 100$ a seed . Im open to all answers, unbiasedly .
 
On that same page (dr. Greenthumb's), you can find a link to grows. From there you can look at completed journals. I've enjoyed the smoke, but I personally refuse to pay that price. Regardless of his bull shit reasons, that's a ridiculous price for only 2 S1 beans.

I agree, without valid reason I'm scratching my head . Now if it was justified id say okay . I just want some answers !!
 
His justification usually is "I don't yield many beans from the process". Which could be true, yet there are ways of making it economical and again $200 for 2 S1 beans, particularly with that justification, assumes the customer is ignorant. With that said, from what I've seen, and what I've smoked, I enjoy the strains I've tried. I feel I can get better for less, plus considering how pissed I'd be if something were to go wrong (bean germination fucking up, accidentally breaking a stem, etc).
 
Another aspect of this is his arrogance. Not the largest factor in deciding to buy beans (it is one for me, but again not a deal breaker), an arrogant breeder lacking social grace at times doesn't make me really want to line his pockets.

you're not a dumbass at all.. imvho, drgt's has some fire in his catalog.. sure, of course people love to bitch about his prices, and for his g13, i can't really say i blame them. but i'm pretty sure you end up with 4 beans of the g13, which makes it like $50 / bean, yes, still very pricey, but much better then $100 per obviously.. don't quote me on the 4 per, but i'm almost 100% sure he throws in a at least one extra bean with it.
i don't think i'd buy the g13, but i've bought other things from drgts.. his ghost cut of og kush is still probably in my top 5 smokes to date.. his bubba og looks to be super bomb.. check dr grubers threads, or heartland hanks, or gladstoneds threads.. they've all run it, and all the pix look pretty nice, again, imvho..
umm, i'm growing his ecsd atm.. i got it as a cut from a fine farmer friend.. she's about 2 plus weeks in flower, so not much for me to say about her as of yet..

Dr Gruber would be the guy to ask. He tests seeds for Greenthumb, and seems like a very honest cat. He'll tell you if the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

I agree that the price is steep, but I'd rather pay $200 for 2 seeds that stand a very good chance of being great than drop $100+ per pack for a slight chance that you might find something worth keeping.
 
Ive never talked to DrGt but ive read his posts where he hangs out at and he doesnt seem to be arrogent or a dick, actually seems like a nice guy. Ive heard hes not pleasent on the phone but maybe hes just not good at talking to strangers. I just recently ordered for first time from him but havent recieved anything yet so no experience with his genetics but from the journals ive seen here and there hes got fire.
 
Thanks guys for very reasonable opinions . $$ wasn't to bitch about just maybe some justification as of why . I guess when you have some of the few last true cuts , stabilized , great crosses left , price shouldn't matter . I'm a firm beleiver In , you get what you pay for "..unless it's from china . However ,I wanted reasoning that's all . I will buy his gear ,and I will purchase OH'Zone , Headband and either the chem or sour xG13 crosses at the bottom . It'll be a big order but i want to experience the original cuts compared to the new age . Haha. Every dog has it's day . I might write him a letter and hope he enjoys his resting years relaxing .

Well I've said I've really enjoyed his gear and it is quality. Most journals are pretty damn impressive, with few undesirables. While I've never ordered or grown his gear, with the exception of some beans I found in a bag of the Iranian G13 (which of course no one knows what stray pollen hit it, or if it was selfed so I can't blame all 4 for being completely intersexed), I hear he's reachable if one needs to get in touch. He has his fans, and like I said I've enjoyed what I've smoked. My point being his sorry excuse and somewhat pissy attitude when people have brought up the cost of his beans, simply rubbed me the wrong way. Just my opinion, I personally can't see spending that much on two beans, and don't buy the bullshit he's selling when all he's doing is selfing plants for most of his gear
 
Some of the stuff he has you cannot get elsewhere. Grabbed his ATF and cannot wait to see what she holds. He also has breeding material from IBL's or clone only material. Compare most other peeps stuff is all poly hybrid, unstable, not uniform or f1 hybrids some of doc's stuff is truly unique. Not to say you don't find good things in other peoples offerings. You can and will, but those are some of the reason doc's stuff is worth the price. Usually you will find a keeper in his gear. Also want to try his big laughin, iranian x diesel, Headband, oh zone sounds interesting and he had a hash plant called kashmir resin factory. Hope he brings it back. Other breeders sometimes use the doc's genetics to make seeds. That's got to tell you something.
 
Your probably better off with MR. Nice hybrids he made an F3 G13 Skunk selected towards g13 dominant used in his crosses and you go to the mr. nice auction you can get 4 packs of 18+ seeds for $200 and select the best of 72+ seeds much more bang for your buck. I'd also rather try Sensi's MR. Nice (G13 x Hashplant) or NL5 x Haze as those are the 2 lines that really gave G13 its fame and they are cheaper then the Doc and can keep their stories straight.
 
That's what I did w/ Soma. At $25 - $30 a bean, I went half that and got 2 crosses made by Dr Underground. The one I've run [ Melon Gum ] was pretty good. Haven't popped the Brooklyn Mango, but ended up getting a couple of Somango anyway. :weed:

I've only run one Somango, thru this past extremely cold winter, along w/ the Melon Gum [lavendar x bubblegum], and a CheeseDom. They all struggled somewhat, but made it. I can't honestly give any of the 3 a fair assesment for that reason, but......they all smoke fine. The Somango is just like the description, which I really appreciate. It was the heartiest, stickiest and best tasting of them. A good mood, not overpowering smoke, great for socializing w/ cool folks. I plan on running the 2nd in late summer and see what it'll do under better conditions. BTW - the Dr Underground Brooklyn Mango is 1/2 Soma's NYCD, they say.
