Dr.F - First Grow :) (Closet Stealth 400w MH/HPS)

Okay so I decided to finally make a grow journal since my setup is complete and the girls are growin'.

First off, figured I would hopefully get some side help from the journal and in hopes of soon finding a mentor.

  • Setup:
  • 400w MH/HPS - Cool-Tube Reflector
  • Agromax Grow Tent (36"x20"x64")
  • 4" VenTech Inline Fan

  • Nutes:
  • Advanced Nutrients
  • Sensi Grow A+B
  • Sensi Bloom A+B
  • B-52
  • Big Bud
  • Bud Candy

  • Soil:
  • Fox Forest Ocean Farms
  • Fox Forest Happy Frog

Well currently my two biggest girls were started roughly 10 days ago under CFLs, and also are bagseed. Put in an order through SoS and got (2)-Auto#1 / (1)-Kandy Kush germinated. They sprouted and are now in party cups. Transferred the two bagseeds to bigger pots.

This is my inline fan mounted on a shelve above my grow tent. It is pulling air out of the ducting from the cool-tube reflector. Correct?

this is the same ducting coming down into the light.

Average Temps and Humidity, dont mind the other high temps, that was without my fan hooked up.

First bagseed went through a rough stage where one of the first leaves broke off, but she has recovered tremendously.

Other bagseed I planted

This is the first bagseed that recovered from the broken leaf. She is roughly in day 10.

Second bagseed, couple days behind.

I transferred them into: http://www.walmart.c...6337730&veh=cse

I have started using small amounts of nutes towards the bagseeds. I have been feeding them:

  • 1mL of Sensi Grow A
  • 1mL of Sensi Grow B
  • 1mL of B-52
It doesn't look like it has been negatively affecting the girls, if anything they have been getting greener and bigger. I have been doing that every 3 days or so, is that too much?? and Idk how much to actually water, or mix with the nutes. ive just been guessing ....

I also have the (2) - Auto #1 and (1) - Kandy Kush that I will post up in a few days once they grow more.

Suggestions are highly appreciative, and help is even better

Setup looks good, just make sure to get a carbon filter hanging as high as you can in the tent ducted to the intake on the cooltube before things start to smell.

It's best to get the filter hooked up soon so you can get an idea of temperatures before it's really necessary.
Should end up carbon filter -> cooltube -> fan -> exhaust

Nice set-up man, looks like a good space I'll be pulling up a chair for this one. I think by going

carbon filter--> tubing--> fan--> tubing--> Cool tube--> exhaust tubing

you may see better temp results by having air blowing across the lighting. But good luck with everything, I love watching tent grows.

Well the inline fan is pulling air out... so you are saying I should hook up ducting to the other side of the cooltube and have it come out the other side of the tent?? Thus pulling air from outside the tent through the cooltube and out the inline?? this is before I get my carbon filter btw.

Looks like a good setup to me, SWIM plans on getting this Magnum Pro carbon filter its fatter and not as long it will help with a walk in a closet grow. I always like the processed coal carbon over If noise is an issue you can put the fan inside the box it came in with the packing peanuts as insulation as a temporary solution. its very very similar to SWIM's execpt with a waterfarm. and just be a little careful with misting and stuff with the cooltube as it is sucking the air through it should be fine just make sure its not pulling a full head of mist into it

What you mean SWIM plans? sorry total noob. Noise is an issue since it's stealth, along with ventialation. Temps are staying at a constant 82 degrees and 44-45% humidity. I usually put my girls outside the tent while misting :) any other suggestions? plants are growing very tall.... very stocky..

SWIM= someone who isn't me, just a way not to not incriminate yourself i guess haha. and if you put ducting on the other side of the cooltube to outside it would only be exchanging the air from the cooltube and the tent and your girls would be left with no air exchange, so basically if you did that you would need to have another inline fan, especially if you get a carbon filter to hook it up to. As for stealth like i said that should help a lot with noise you may need longer ducting to fit the cardboard box somewhere and to have the ducting go to and out the fan enclosure(box), or if you have the money you can get some acoustic foam and make one even better with a plastic crate. 82 degrees is ok. is the room itself cooled?

The room sits about 75-76 degrees.. I'm gonna stick with leaving the otherside on... It was at 82 degrees with 400w ballast at 50%, so 200w... I was told to bump it up to 75% so I did, so 300w. The temps are now sitting aroun 84-85 degrees. I want it to be cooler than that... I have a small oscillating fan right on the girls to give them some breathing room/circulation. I ran a 6" ducting about 15 feet from my tent to my air conditioner vent in the wall (approx 10 feet off the ground). so when the A/C kicks on 72-74 degrees for approx 15min every hour, it cools them off to 82 or so. Any other ideas? I have a window 10 feet away from the tent I thought about ducting the inline too, but it's supposed to be stealth and I don't really like the idea of ducting from vent to closet, because I can't close the closet door now.

The plants still look healthy as of now, but down the road they are gonna get hot in there... hopefully I can afford a carbon filter in the next couple weeks for flowering.

Would you suggest just moving the tent out of the closet into my room? and just always keeping my door locked and no people in my room? To have more room to work with to ventilate etc.

It sounds like you're going to have to run your light at lower percentage. How is the negative pressure in your grow room? maybe some help with a couple cheapo fans inside
