door design help - going 12/12

Pretty new to this and we are planning to flip to 12/12 in the next day it two. Our door into the room leaks light.... Any suggestions? We can build another door/frame but I can't come up with a light proof design.... Possibly over thinking it. Any help or suggestions? Thanks!

I've used everthing from bent lightweight cardboard stapled to the door frame to weatherstripping. You can also add a flap of carpet at the bottom or buy a foam draft guard. It's really some thing you will have to decide for yourself but these are a few ideas Iknow will work.

i always just create a separate room inside of the room out of panda paper. I basically have a big curtain of panda paper across the room leaving you with a hallway between the door and the flower room if you see what im saying. Then buy a zipper from the hydro store, stick it on the panda paper, and cut out the middle and voila! light proof. Also you will have to use a fair amount of duct tape to cover all staple holes well and to seal the panda paper to the wall. It takes some time but it can be done.

Door sweep at walmart for $15, and some weather stripping, $5. Problem solved.

Omg... this was an all day project - We tried the weather stripping but our door wouldn't close right - tried to move the latch - didn't work - took it down. Made a curtain out of panda, was too janky and it kept getting caught in the original door. Tried hanging a blanket --- too sloppy. Then tried to use gorilla tape to create a seal on the inside - didn't work - then tried to use a wider thinner insulation - didn't work. Omg. So frustrating. We finally used pipe insulation to make a border around the door that fits tight with the seal and frame. We have one tiny little pin hole - is this enough to mess anything up? We can mess with it more but after 4-6 hours of trying this and that... we're done for tonight. Thanks for all the suggestions!

your making this more difficult than it needs to be. panda paper, duct tape, staple gun<-------all u need

I hang the thick Black Plastic sheeting you can get at home depot in a Roll. Its HUGE once you unwrap it. I staple it to the ceiling and tape it to my room and Drape it over the outside of my door,, Basically wherever needed.

Any YES, that pin hole COULD cause a problem.
