Never, never, never talk to the police.
"I understand officer, you have questions and I'm sure you will get answers. But, I am not going to discuss this with you right now, or ever. Am I being detained? Am I free to go now?"
After saying that a half dozen times (and you will) just shorten it to "I'm not answering any of your questions". And always add "Am I being detained? Am I free to go?" You won't get an answer to your questions either.
