i still dont understand how i will know what amount per gal for nutrients. can some one show me a very easy nuit formula i have a whole list of diff kind but i dont know which one to use there are so many.. :peace:

I think the easiest way is to get one manufacturers line of products - especially if they have a "simple" program.

I am not suggesting you use General Hydroponics but they are what i use so that is all i know. Here is a link to their different feeding schedules. I would check out the "Keep It Simple - Drain to Waste program".

GENERAL HYDROPONICS

depends what part of the process you are in.....for instance, when in vegitative stage- you will need more nitrogen (N) Once you finish vegging and change lights over to 12/12....you will need more Potassium (K).

Go to one of the nute websites, Im sure they have a chart on there. Depends how concentrated the nutes are and what exactly they contain.

Oh yeah - forgot to mention - most manufacturers have a Grow and Bloom (2 part ) or Base, Grow, and Bloom (3 part) formula with extra additives. But you'll see that when you start looking at feeding programs.

Here is my own schedule which i follow rather loosely (usually end up with higher PPM in the 1600 + range)
Week 1 - PPM: 0
Week 2 - PPM: 0-300
Week 3 - PPM: 3-500
Week 4 - PPM: 5-700
Week 5 - PPM: 7-900
Week 6 - PPM: 9-1000
SWITCH TO 12/12 LIGHTING AND BLOOM NUTES (this is just an example you don't have to switch to 12/12 now)
Week 7 - PPM: 3-400 (note the drop after switching nutrients)
Week 8 - PPM: 4-500
Week 9 - PPM: 5-600
Week 10 - PPM: 6-700
Week 11 - PPM: 7-800
Week 12 - PPM: 8-900
Week 13 - PPM: 9-1000
Week 14 - PPM: 10-1100

here are some possibly useful conversions:
1 TSP = 5 ml
1 TBSP = 15 ml
1 oz = 30 ml
1 Qt = 946 ml
1 Gal = 3.785 L
1 Gal = 128 oz

And i follow G.H. Drain to Waste - Keep It Simple Program (Flora Hardwater Micro, Grow, Bloom, Floralicious, and KoolBloom. I use FloraKleen to flush and FloraShield for seedlings.

and a pic of a three 33 day old plants for fun....

advanced nutrients is the best and they have a feeding chart or you could email or call them if you need help this is what im useing mother earth super tea bloom 2tbs.carbo load 1tsp,big bud 1.4 ml.

Harlesjohn Do you have both pH and EC testing instruments? That is a good start to determining what quantities to add to your water. Manufacturers' instructions can sometimes be misleading and can end up in all sorts of bother. Best to get you EC and pH meters then folks might then tell you to raise your ppm by this much or that much to do this and that as oppose to ml/l waffle. just a suggestion

your right on ec is the way to go. and ph cant live without it dont even grow unless you have a ph tester

great info i will get those tools asap. as for ph i have this white tablet that you drop in the water and it brings the ph to just under 7 and treats up to 50 gal. but i am still going to get those tools

That's quite right imo bwinn27. Those tools are essential kit for people who wish to stay away from the constant risk of over or under fertilizing. Of course, we are (some/) all cultivating our medicine in Controlled environments and the right tools for the right aspects of control are very necessary.

Well, I do not know what those tablets are that you speak of. But what I do know is, if I pH balance my reservoir, then add nutrients to that balanced water, I will almost certainly have a resultant pH which was not the same as after I initially balanced the water. Unless that pill is some how intelligent, I don't see how it will help when you engineer nutrient fixes with different additives in your reservoir and your pH is 9.87 for example.

pH, EC, and a soil moisture detector (for those in soil obviously) are very good tools to have. Most days I use the Moisture meter first to determine if I shall mix a feed, then EC wand helps me set the levels of nutes, then pH meter does the final job. In some cases, I set me EC, then by the time my pH falls into range, the EC is affected and rises. I'd say EC and pH are somewhat relative in so far as the chems added to raise EC can affect the pH.

Too much good herb, I'm off on one lol
