Trump Popular Interview Subject Amid Glut of Upcoming Books
Trump has granted at least 22 interviews for 17 different books since leaving office, with discussions mostly on the record for use when the books are published, Axios reported Monday.

Axios sources said Trump has given authors many "nuggets" that "will definitely make news" during interviews at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. Although the former president makes every interrogator feel like he or she is getting something new, the report said there's "quite a bit of overlap in the 'scoops.'"

"Offering Diet Cokes and dressed in suit and tie, Trump spent an average of about 90 minutes with each of the authors, some of whom were invited to stay and eat dinner at Mar-a-Lago (although not with him)," Axios reported.

Trump personally decided whom to see, Axios said, with investigative journalist Bob Woodward and The Washington Post’s Robert Costa being denied interviews.

With several publishing-date logjams in the coming 18 months, authors are competing against one another. Michael Wolff's "Landslide" is set to begin the onslaught of Trump books on July 27. Wolff wrote "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," which was released in 2018.

Axios said New York Times Washington correspondent Maggie Haberman's book, due next year, is the book many Trump insiders are awaiting most eagerly.

Karl, whose first Trump book, "Front Row at the Trump Show," was a New York Times bestseller, spent five hours at Mar-a-Lago, including about 90 minutes on the record with Trump, according to Axios. He also has interviewed numerous Trump Cabinet members.

So far, five authors received two interviews each. They included Wolff, Haberman, former Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway, Wall Street Journal's Michael Bender, whose book is scheduled for Aug. 10, and The Federalist's Mollie Hemingway, whose "Rigged" is due Sept. 21.

Since leaving office, Trump mostly has expressed his thoughts through released statements, and via television interviews with Newsmax and Fox News.

The rats are running and there will be a half dozen or more, they are apparently going for a criminal enterprise conviction. That means they will all be on the hook as part of a conspiracy for what Donald did and the money he made off it.

Donald turned them all into witnesses, by having them systematically cheat on their taxes over they years. They are gonna rat him out or go down with him on slam dunk documents based cases and criminal conspiracy. The Trump organization fits the bill as a criminal organization and they will use the NY version of RICO on everybody involved. They all better lawyer up and since it was work related, Trump should have to pay for their lawyers, even for those who testify against him. Anybody who testifies before a NY grand jury automatically gets immunity (no 5th), so that's where the rat's will be squealing first and if they cooperate with the grand jury, they will testify at the trial.

The ex-president’s bodyguard turned COO is reportedly being investigated by the Manhattan District Attorney, too.

As part of its criminal investigation into Donald Trump, the Manhattan district attorney’s office has, for many months now, been trying to get Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, who knows where all the bodies are buried and could likely put the dots together for a jury, to flip. Thus far, it doesn‘t appear as if he’s done so, but the fact that Weisselberg could reportedly face charges this summer presumably ups the chances he’ll cooperate to save himself. In the meantime, though, Cyrus Vance Jr.’s office is apparently looking into another figure who may have some extremely helpful information to share.

The Wall Street Journal reports that New York prosecutors are investigating Matthew Calamari, Trump’s bodyguard turned chief operating officer, and the question of whether or not he was the recipient of “tax-free fringe benefits,” as part of their probe into the company possibly giving out such perks to employees as a way to avoid paying taxes. Calamari has reportedly lived for years in an apartment at the Trump Park Avenue building on the East Side and driven a Mercedes leased through the Trump Organization. His son, Matthew Calamari Jr., also lives in a company-owned building (Junior joined the family business in 2011 right after graduating high school and was named corporate director of security in 2017, according to a LinkedIn profile.) While neither Calamari has been accused of wrongdoing, prosecutors recently advised both men to hire lawyers, sources told the Journal, which is generally not a great sign.

Receiving benefits—such as free apartments, subsidized rent or car leases—from an employer, and not paying taxes on such benefits, can be a crime, although experts said prosecutors rarely bring cases on such perks alone…. Such a recommendation is often a sign that prosecutors’ interest in a subject is intensifying, but doesn’t mean the Calamaris will be charged with wrongdoing.

In 2019 testimony before the House Oversight Committee, former longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen mentioned the elder Mr. Calamari as among employees who could attest to what Mr. Cohen described as Mr. Trump’s practice of inflating his assets to insurance companies. The elder Mr. Calamari has worked at the Trump Organization for nearly four decades. He began working for Mr. Trump as his bodyguard after he tackled hecklers at a 1981 U.S. Open women’s semifinal, Mr. Calamari told Bloomberg in 2015. He said Ivana Trump, Mr. Trump’s wife at the time, asked for his name on her husband’s behalf. Mr. Calamari was ultimately promoted to chief operating officer.

In his 2004 book, Trump: How to Get Rich, Mr. Trump wrote, “After getting to know Matthew, I realized he had a lot more to offer than his job title warranted.” He described both Mr. Calamari and Mr. Weisselberg, among others, as “home-run, grand-slam people” in the acknowledgments section.

Weisselberg has not been accused of wrongdoing. Last month, The Washington Post reported that Vance’s office had assembled a grand jury that had already begun hearing evidence, a development that suggests the probe had “reached an advanced stage” after more than two years, and that charges against the ex-president could be coming.

Whoever testifies before a NY grand jury gets immunity for that testimony, no 5th amendment rights. They won't be calling people who won't make a deal or who are targets of the investigation and these two will rat out anybody to stay out of prison. I suspect Jared is trying to get political asylum in Israel and might be paying good money to get it!

The only way out for Trump IMHO, is to run for Russia while he still can, if Vlad will have him. He hasn't been indicted yet, so there's nothing stopping him from legally jumping on a plane and heading for Europe first, then off to Moscow.

I'm sure this guy was interviewed by investigators and prosecutors, they are giving him immunity by inviting him to testify before the NY grand jury for a reason. Documents, and a half dozen executives and they will easily nail Donald and his bean counter, if he doesn't roll over too. I believe they are going after the whole Trump organization as a criminal enterprise, so everybody involved better lawyer up and Donald had better start paying everybody's legal fees! I figure there should be a traffic jam at the prosecutors door...

Of course, despite allegedly wanting less to do with the ex-president, the two followed him down to Florida after leaving D.C., reportedly having purchased a $30 million property close enough to Mar-a-Lago that they could drop by for dinner with dad. And they’ll be spending the summer at the same Bedminster, New Jersey, club as Trump, where their accommodations are literally steps from his:

For the last week, Kushner, Ivanka Trump and their children have been on a summer road trip, from Miami to, eventually, Bedminster…. In Bedminster, the Kushner cottage and the Trump cottage are separated by mere tens of feet, about as close as the families have been for an extended period since the White House.
Nothing says, “I'm finished with this guy!” like moving into the house next door! There’s also the matter of the fact that, as journalist Judd Legum points out, neither Ivanka nor Jared has come out to declare that Biden won the election fair and square. Which, if they were as upset about Trump’s rhetoric as they supposedly claim to be, you’d think they might consider doing.

One person who spoke with the former President in the last two weeks recounted a conversation in which Trump complained about Kushner inking a book deal that he thinks his son-in-law will use to take credit for some of his achievements. Another source confirms there is jealousy from Trump about Kushner’s book, which a Kushner associate says was a “seven-figure deal” with Broadside Books, the conservative branch of mega-publisher HarperCollins. Trump, who has lately been helping with several journalists’ in-the-works books about his presidency, has yet to announce a deal of his own.

To be clear, he hasn’t announced a deal of his own yet because, according to reports, publishers want nothing to do with him, which makes sense given his attempts to overthrow the government.

“Family fireworks about to be ignited for our viewing entertainment,” the longtime Trump fixer wrote.

Michael Cohen, former personal attorney and longtime fixer to Donald Trump, said the former president is getting ready to throw a member of the family under the bus.

Cohen shared a CNN report that said Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner ― Trump’s daughter and son-in-law, both of whom served as White House advisers ― were distancing themselves from the former president because of his “constant harping on the past and his inability to move on.”

Cohen previously predicted that Trump would turn on those closest to him ― and not just Kushner ― amid multiple ongoing investigations.

“I think Donald Trump is going to flip on all of them, including his children,” Cohen said on MSNBC in May. “I really believe that Donald Trump cares for only himself and he realizes that his goose is cooked.”

He added:

Cohen served as Trump’s attorney and fixer for years, including throughout the 2016 presidential campaign. However, in 2018, he turned on Trump and began cooperating with investigators.

Cohen ultimately pleaded guilty to lying to Congress and campaign finance violations for arranging the hush-money payments from Trump to porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Although Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison, he was released into home confinement last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
