so i started out with a 150watt hps fixture...wasnt happy...WANTED MORE LIGHT....MORRRRRRRRRRRE....so i bought a 400 watt hps grow light and installed it...and it was apparently way too close...the plant is has only been under light from seed since 11/9 so shes still a baby...i recieved the 400watt fixture on 11/26 and installed it that evening with only 2 hours or less time left til it shut off. checked in the morning and was heart broken :-( the two bottom sets of leaves were curling upward, dried out and F.U.B.A.R. badly...now not the new growth but the set right below it, the middle leaf on both sides are slightly burnt...not curling, but slightly discolored and best i can tell..the new growth is ok...how long will it take for it to recover if it will recover at all ?

ps...the 400w is no longer on the plant until i can determine whether or not the plant will survive and figure out if my plan to rid the closet of heat will actually work.

thanks for your time and sorry for the long drawn out post

females are usually the heartbreakers-dont forget it as more to come in life. she will be alright. those fans are not going to recover-leave em until they are completely withered. shit happens. not the end of the world. most likely no harm done.
buy a clip on fan and pass the air over the bulb

let me ask you this, my closet is small...by small i mean 2 1/2 feet by 5 feet and only 7 feet tall ....im gonna ask even tho im not gonna like what you have to say...but is that a bit too small for a 400w hps fixture...it has a remote ballast which is not in the closet with it, so will a clip on fan be enough in that confined area? i was thinking of adding an exhaust fan in the ceiling and pop a hole through the wall down low for fresh air to come in, but if a clip on fan will do the trick and save me a few holes i dont really want to make, im all for it :o)

thanks

well you def need fresh air in there. the clip on fan was to reduce/deflect the heat put out by the light. 400w should be ok, just not too close. and yes, the fresh air intake and stale air exhaust is a must if you want a decent healthy plant. sound like you have room for more than one in there. take some clones, veg em under floros and flower them in that little room. size seems reasonable to me to hold a few gals
