Isn't the first set of numbers on SSN based on birth location? Could easily figure it out I guess.

That depends.

You must remember that he was born in 1946, rulez about SS numbers have changed over time and when his was first issued.

Prior to the millennium, 'they' regularly used SS numbers for identification purposes. This is no longer done for obvi reasons.

it doesn't mean that this truly is his SS# but based upon how the government worked back then, they used it as an identifier often.

health insurance did it all the time. you would have your employers group number, then your SS# was your employee ID as no one has the same number.

They had no idea we would be up against identity theft via phishing, doxing etc. I just recently had my brand new bank card phished went I went to Wendy's in that yuuuuuuuuge cyber attack:

Florida
Margate
33063
499 N STATE ROAD 7
1/13/2016 - 6/8/2016

losers tried to buy online games, but my bank's software identified the purchase in LA (haven't been in a while) and online games (never purchase those). They immediately canceled my card before I knew it even happened.

The military used to use your SSAN as your ID number. It was listed on dog tags as late as 2008.
