Does Soap and Water Aphid Spray Hurt Buds?

Hi Everybody!

I am in Canada, and we cannot get some of the better sprays. I have been using Safer's Soap sprays to tackle aphids and some other small bugs. My plants are in full bud, and are more bud than leaves. I was able to get the aphids under control buy spraying with Safer's soap spray, and their insecticide soap. I have also been picking leaves that were overly infested. So my question is, will the soap spray harm the buds? I have been spraying at dusk, and I have not been spraying the buds, but have been spraying the bud leaves, as well as the other leaves where the aphids have really set up shop.

Again will the soaps harm the buds? Even if I am only getting overspray and indirect spray?

Thanks

A 50/50 mix of 91% Isopropyl alcohol and water killed them on some of my house plants, and the plants didn't mind it at all. Supposedly you can use it all the way through flower for buds, but have never tried it myself and don't know if that would be good for the trichs. Diatomaceous earth also kills them I think, but aren't sure.

Thanks. I was searching here and the alcohol is supposed to be bad for the trichomes. I have also read not to get soap on the buds as well.

No. Just continue what ur doing focusing mainly on the leaves. A little overspray won’t hurt your buds.

I wouldn't spray anything like that if you're in full flower. Have you thought about putting a screen on a vacuum cleaner hose and vacuuming them off? That's what I used to do years ago.

There are too many little tiny ones. I have too many leaves I think to vacuum. Nice idea though. I would be better to wash the leaves by hand.

I my try Safer's End All. Up here it has the soap salts plus pyrethrins. I have been trying not to use the pyrethrins but from what I am reading they are safe and degrade quickly. Anyone familiar with them?

I just don't like spraying anything at the flowering stage regardless of how safe it's claimed to be or claimed to be used up until harvest. That's just my take on things. But you gotta do what you got to do.

Good luck.

It's either kill the bugs or kill the plants before the bugs do.
