When are they gonna put the slaves to work making toilet paper?

https://news.vice.com/article/venez...or-law-that-can-require-people-work-in-fields

President Nicolás Maduro signed a decree at the end of last week that gives powers to the labor ministry to order "all workers from the public and private sector with enough physical capabilities and technical know-how" to join a government drive aimed at increasing food production.

They can be required to work in the agricultural sector for a 60-day period that can be extended for another 60 days "if the circumstances require it."

Not bad placement for the US. Where did you pull this from? I'd be interested to know what their metric for "Freedom to make life choices" is. Even though it's number 4, Norway would still be my number 1 choice of places to live, probably no coincidence that it also scored the highest on Freedom to make life choices (albeit by a razor thin margin).

(Also not surprised that Venezuela under Maduro didn't make the list)

That's from the World Happiness Report

Venezuela comes in at 44

Do any of you guys find it funny conservatives always list the same cities in America to push their 2nd amendment agenda (Chicago, Baltimore) and the same countries to push their "Capitalizum are betterz" agenda (Venezuela, Cuba)?

Weird..

Even though Sanders and other democratic socialists use examples like Norway, Sweden, and Denmark in their arguments supporting said system?

Transparent..

Not weird at all. Chicago is the poster child for the civil-rights destroying, gun grabbing extremism. It has one of the most anti-constitutional regimes in the country. Despite that, it is a fucking war zone. Chicago epitomizes the "when guns are banned only criminals will have guns" charge.

To cite Cuba and Venezuela as emblematic of socialism is quite reasonable. How else would you characterize those countries. Despite considerable natural resource wealth, Venezuelans have to wipe their asses with their hands, and they are starving.

Capitalism has generated more wealth and improved the lives of more people than any other economic model. The problem, for you guys, is that it requires a bit of effort.

You lefties are promoting the ideals and the policies that created the misery in those countries. Real world examples are uncomfortable for you. Tough shit.

It doesn't matter much what the gun laws are in the city of Chicago when the gun laws in the state of Illinois effectively circumvent them. Similar to how it doesn't matter much what the medicinal marijuana laws are in California if the federal government can effectively circumvent them

Countries are a better indicator of the effectiveness of gun control legislation. For example, Australia implemented strict gun control legislation in 1996 after the Port Arthur massacre and haven't had a single mass shooting since. Canada has much stricter gun control laws than the US and see's a fraction of a percentage of homicides per capita as the United States. The UK, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, pretty much the entirety of the European Union has strict gun control, sub Switzerland, and they see far less gun deaths than the United States. Likewise, countries with far less gun control include places like Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, the Congo, Brazil, etc., all places with much higher gun deaths.

Care to explain that?

There is an important distinction between 'socialism' and 'democratic socialism' that you fail to recognize or acknowledge

The governments of the happiest places on Earth don't operate the same way as the country listed at 44. It's convenient for your argument to place them both under the same general label of 'socialism', but discounting the successful democratic aspect of the style of socialism seen in Europe is intellectually dishonest to say the least. The numbers in Sweden, Norway and Denmark don't come close to the numbers seen in Venezuela and Cuba

There are 20 million slaves worldwide in the year 2016 because of capitalism, but hey, if you save $.10 on that tshirt, success! Right?

Which is unbelievably ironic considering the fact that I would rather work harder and pay more to ensure someone on the lower end of the wage scale can afford a basic lifestyle. People like you on the other hand would rather work less and hoard more to ensure your own lifestyle without consideration of others. I'm willing to work harder to ensure the lives of others are better, you're willing to work just hard enough to ensure your own lifestyle isn't affected

Go have a little looksee at the chart I posted, us lefties are promoting the ideals and policies that created the happiness in those countries. You simply wish to distort that and strawman the actual arguments being presented into countries you select that failed not because of socialism, but because of authoritarianism, the same exact kind of authoritarianism your select republican candidate has espoused the entire election, and the same kind of authoritarianism he's praised others (like Putin and Mao's China) for committing against their citizens.

only because it is so easy to get guns 5 minutes down the road.

when is the australian government gonna start rounding up their citizens into FEMA camps by the way? feel free to answer that whenever you are not too busy joining white power groups or wishing federal prison on growers over political differences, shithead.

If people dont have guns they dont kill each other with guns. There are other methods however. You conveniently do not look at the entire murder rate as usual with any discussion topic.

How are the gun laws working out in Venezuela?

Good point. Bernie supports 'democratic slavery'.

Did ya ever see that movie where a die-hard East German goes into a coma just as the wall fell and, when she wakes up her son and friends fake her into thinking that Communism is still thriving in Germany? Is it possible that the people you know are lulling you into a false sense that the McCarthy era is still going on? In your world, is all the TV black and white?

If not, you should contact the Smithsonian to see if they are interested in your 1957 human brain - hardly used.

If it's so damn great else where, why the hell don't you get the f*** outta here???? Don't bother we know the answer.
Speaking for myself, it is because I want a better place for my child. I yearn for a time where everybody who thinks like you do has died of old age.
