Does anyone else use hay for fruiting?

I just tried a run with coco coir/ cow manure and it really didnt work for me. I dont know what when wrong, but I always had luck with hay/manure.
I have an electric skillet, with a pot, that I pasteurize with. I can heat up the water and the skillet keeps it at 160F, and I usually cook it for 2hrs. I use mono tubs with lids... I will be looking at different methods, but for now I am going to use what I have and had success with. I really dont want to buy anymore supplies until after christmas.
I will figure out what other method I want to try next, after this month. Thanks...

I found this pic before... Someone on here told me to use something without sides on it. If you look close enough at the greenhouse, the substrate has been formed in a tub and dumped out onto the lid. It appears that there is not a casing layer or anything.

Shrooms do not have to be cased its a preference thing....I always heard you run a higher chance of overlay if you do not case ...Either way I have had success either way
