Does anyone actually run Mills Nutrients?

Hey all, First time posting here I’m pretty new in the grow world but have been really enjoying the new hobby and everything involved with it.. I’m currently on my second run with Mills, To be honest I’m pretty annoyed.. it seems like a great line, but yet I cant find any articles/ discussion on it when I need some answers.. I’m running in 70/30 coco with an auto feed at 1.4EC Watering 2 times a day in 5 gallon fabrics making sure to have atleast 20% runoff and I always seem to be either pushing the point of nitrogen toxicity or having a deficiency then seeing burn I can’t seem to win and I’m loosing my ever loving mind. If anyone has any experience I’d love to hear it..

thanks everyone

I have never even heard of Mills. Those plants look perfectly fine I'm not sure what you're concern is. Are you worried about the tips at the end prying upwards and being a bit crispy? I call that Frosted Tips and it just means to me that I'm feeding the plant plenty of what it needs. I'm not seeing any nitrogen issues other than maybe the very slight burn of your leaf tips..

Keep in mind that you will need to use most products such as Botanicare CalMag+ at a minimum dosage of 5ml/gallon when using COCO and ESPECIALLY when growing with COCO + LEDs. I run 30 ml per/5 gallons of water which is about +5 ml over what they suggest @ 5ml/gal suggested dose.

Personally those look great what exactly is your concern?

Calvin.m16 Thanks for the response

yeah I was worrying about the tip burn and how dark the leaves are. Everything Ive read says it’s supposed to be a lighter green (I’m reading to much lol) then I’ll have a few lower leaves curl up shrivel and die I associated this to be not enough light But I wasn’t sure exactly.. I’m not using any Calmag at the moment but I can do add it. im using .5ml silica 12ml A&B And 8ml pk per gal. Bi weekly I rotate between mammoth p and great white

VEG can be a bit weird with LED especially. I've noticed my creamsicle gets almost "lettuce" leaves like crinkly snaggly etc at the top of the plants if the light is intense and or after transplant.

They bounce back after a couple weeks.

Personally I'd drop the Great White. The Mammoth P will be perfect in flower. Great White was awesome in its day and really get smaller plants going, but those myco blends are outdated. And more specific endo species are better for your plants. But yours look great so ignore that it you want.

@calvin.m16 i started incorporating Calmag in the feed and noticed a drastic improvement since we’ve last talked I only added 2ml per gallon and will step it up little by little so thanks for that advice! I’m starting off seeds and solo cups under t5, once I transplant to 1 gallons I put them under the leds, I have noticed that lettuce look too once they get under higher powered lighting.

@ChrispyCritter Thanks for the advice and compliment it’s appreciated! I won’t ignore it, I will cut GW and see the results, I’m sure being newer I am just throwing everything at these girls that they probably don’t even need going overkill from a lack of knowledge.

Old thread but, I have used Mills A+B for about 5-6 separate grows now.

I found it best to water more frequently with lower strength mixes.

When I followed the feeding chart shit was all over the shop, mutant pH flare ups, straight up burnt tips, tacos, claw leaves, stunted for weeks on end, it drove me insane.

My first run with it, I just ran straight Mills A+B start to finish. Flower was nice enough, strong and flavorsome but lacked density and weight. Grew the same seeds again on the next run but added Canna Boost all through flower, difference is night and day.

This is the answer to all nutrients, low ppm and frequent watering. I used coco for years and always had K and C deficiency that cause problems with N, always making things harder, especially when feeding at high ppms. Now that I use hydroton those problems are non existent and life is easier and the buds are dank. Never used mills but every hydro store pushes it and everyone there says it is the best, that is why I've never used it. Dutch Master Commercial, in my opinion is the best line out there for hydro.

I used it for my first indoor grow, shop seemed to have a whole lot of it couple yrs ago, they don't stock it at all anymore. Same with Reizeiger.

For the price it is excellent value, grew a whole lot of plants with the 5l and still have plenty left

Salt build up is real with Mills, especially on the clear part of A/B. Luckily I'm still a cave man handwatering haha.

Mills was intended for coco originally but they do a cal mag in their range so........... I do find their dosage chart to be too much, way too much ! In soil I use 0.5ml a litre when soil nutes are on way out and that is enough. Not used in hydro yet but watch this space........

Mills is double the price of most other base nutrients with no justification at all
I quite agree, the I have all but the cal mag ! Never would have bought it but was gifted it 3/4 full on everything about 500 pounds worth in the shop ! The lad failed too ! Never even used a ec meter or ph meter. I never knew or he wouldn't have failed ! Certainly not to the extent he did anyway ! This is my first soil grow for years and I would have spent 36 pound on biobizz grow, bloom and topmax plus any root stim near enough ! In hydro I always went home and garden after using various nutrients and h&g did it for me. Good price with dilution rates ! The mills does the trick but the clear part of a and b doesn't half leave some salts ! and I barely use any 0.5ml litre unless deficient but not seen it yet ! The dilution rates are serious strong shit they put up ! I find that with most though, do the lowest they say and work from there ! I usually find growing that less is more when it comes to feeding the girls/or boys !

I run mills as well. Are you using there full line up?
Mills has cal and mag already in it.
I use there medium feed chart and hand water. I do not test ec so i prob am no help but i love there full line up so far but definitely pushes the n to the limit.

Heres my grow at day 29 of veg.20210429_162140.jpg

Gotta be a reason they started doing cal mag in a bottle. Maybe they pulled most cal mag when they pushed it as a multi purpose nutrients not just coco !
