Right it would depend on your space. I would try to go the next size up if possible. I think 3 gallons is a good size. I always went by roughly 1 ounce of bud per gallon of flower pot.

i only vegged for 4 weeks and when i transplanted root ball wasnt huge but the problem i have i they are about a week into flowering and someone told me to use 7.5inch pots so i got the 10inch and now they might be too small. is it ok to tranplant during flowering

I gotta 13 inch under cfl's,,,,and I think it's too small

I would not transplant during flower, but you can stack the pots, get another pot the same size as yours fill it with your soil mix them put your planted pot on top and gently cut out the bottom of the top pot. this will double your root area and not damage many if any roots. You will be glad you did. If you look at some of my pics you can see the double pots system I use alot.
