first the guy at the grow shop said it and I just assumed he was trying to get business. Then someone else told me. Are there new bulbs actually used? I was gunna order one today so fast answers are appreciated

I can't say yes or no about hotilkux. But I received a used Apollo 600w bulb once. I simply wrote a message to the seller and he sent me a free new one. Told me to keep the old one.

If they don't cost much more. Just buy em at the shop. Easier to deal with defects, questions, etc

I bought a Eyehortilux super hps 600 from Amazon.. Sold and shipped by Amazon in Prime and mine was new.. there was a review that said they shipped a "used" bulb..I ordered mine July of last year because I read this comparision... http://growace.com/blog/the-best-hps-grow-bulb-test-comparing-6-brands-on-par-output/... even though the review is for 1000 watt, liked the brand results on the review... been happy but time for a new one now, not sure which one yet.

See if any scratches on it from where u screw it in.. look for any color besides crystal clear on glass. Shop I get mine etch in the metal when u buy to show its used.

Check the arc tube. If both ends are black that's a good sign.

Except that if you read the hortilux they say right on the bulb that they are started at the factory to ensure working bulbs. I would rather have my bulb pre started than receive a dud.
