Does a Gavita 1000 require AC for 4x4x8 tent?

Sorry, but I just can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Would 1000w be overkill for that kind of space? maybe 750 would be enough


Also, has anyone used this light:

being able to keep the ballast in a separate room to reduce heat sounds intriguing

You can dim it down to 400 or 600. I know someone who uses these. I like the open hood to allow you to cover more area.

a gavita 1000 needs a min of 4500 btus of cooling, but just the area,not the bulb
for that size tent, i would use the 6/750

Probably.

You could air cool the hood. Pull air from outside the tent across your light and then out the tent and out a window. BUT if the air you are pulling across the light is too warm you wont be able to cool the light enough and will need a/c.

Have you purchased this light yet? If not why not just get a 1k watt hps with a air cooled hood? Maybe you have your reasons but just a suggestion.
