Do you top outdoor?

Hi

I have 2 white rhinos. Topped at 5th node about 3 inches high vegging in a grow box. They are in 1 gallon pots going in 7 gallon pots on the deck.

Do you top your outdoors?

Last year I made 8 buds from a kush plant and got 3 oz from it. The year before I let it grow and it was 1 oz. I think 16 to 32 is perfect but we have a 3 month veg here.

Maybe 100 is perfect.

What do you do?

I typically only do lst and average well over a pound a plant. Your yield is mainly going to come down to pot size. I wouldn't go below 45 gallons for outdoor, but that's just me. Seems pointless to do outdoor for small plants.

If working from seed I rely heavily on early topping to get the uniform shape
I want, I bend the run away branches
To keep uniformity then I top the shit out of it creating a large bush.

When working with clones I rely more on bending to get the uniformity due to the alternating nodes but I still top them as well. I kind of just decide what im going to do after staring at it for a few minutes.

I often prefer to FIM which stands for "Fuck I missed". Instead of topping; which gives you two new shoots that grow into one big "V"... FIM'ing when done properly generates four new heads instead of two. Then I tie each of the four bent angular almost in the likes of a swaztika and from there I Supercrop. Didn't do it this year but I've done it the last four years and it's quite lucrative in producing heads and a bountiful harvest. Just be careful not to split the stalk when you're tying them down.

Ok i will shoot for 100 buds :D
Buddy, I don't think you are going about this the right way if you are just looking to increase your yield. You mentioned 3oz from eight colas so I think your effort would be better spent improving your grow overall. How large are the pots? What soil? Which nutes? How much sun exposure? Could be genetics, too.

I don't need a huge harvest so I grow in 10 gallon fabric with quality soil and MaxSea nutes, top twice for four mains and average more than 8oz per. Tell us what you've been doing and maybe we can help you fill those containers nice and full this fall.

Yes I top outdoors. So far I have some plants have at lest 20 tops. Some take to training easy, some don't. Once i have the number of "colas" or tops I want, I let the plant grow Up Up and away, until flower when i remove almost all foliage under the Colas.

OP, I top often. I'm behind so far this season with just one topping. They have grown a couple of feet since the first topping, and I like to pinch every 8-12 inches.

I'm with Bacala on this. Your yield is going to come from your thumb at that small pot size. I think you seriously need to think about a bigger pot size, your yield will increase for sure. In any case your medium, your nutes, and water frequency will also be large factors. Tell us what your using and your game plan on nutes
