I think this is a valid way to look at the supreme court's decision to allow corporations to donate to campaigns.
one person, one vote...keep companies out of it, their only out for themselves, we've seen that now, now is the time to move
let's join the movement to amend the United States Constitution to require a seperation between corporation and state. We would think that the separation between church and state should imply it, but thats not how things are working out, and we should worry about the bigger picture...the standard of living is being reduced for the poor, and there may no longer be any public parks, or public highway systems, or public schools, if the oligarth's continue to be so successfull at selling their View, and getting tax concessions.
We used to tax the ultra-rich in this country 90%
Now we see commercials on television that say the democrats are spending too much, that Sacramento State Employee Pension debt is "bloated" (like they shouldn't pay those people thier pension?)
(side bar: what can you do about someone's retirement pay, when they worked a city or county job for low pay and okay benefits - are you honestly going to cancel their retirement pay? that- in the corporate world, would look good to the public, they see the company is willing to make the hard choices to meet or beat the Street's earning expections. Do we want to live in the world portayed in Free Jack?)
But one thing we can do is dictate to the government that our democracy is not for sale, and my boss shouldn't get to vote more than i do in this next election
